The project

Adopt vines from the farm "KORE - Wein und Mehr" in Deidesheim (Germany) and receive your harvest in the form of white wine Riesling PDO Pfalz at home. The Farmer Fabian will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption. This wine was tasted by professional wine tasters that collaborate with CrowdFarming and received __94__ out of 100 possible points.

What do you adopt?

You adopt vines from our farm in Deidesheim (Germany) that we cultivate following the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union. We are already in the process of converting and expect to be officially certified by 2024. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your vines. You adopt 6 Riesling vines in the vineyards around Deidesheim, a beautiful, traditional wine-growing village on the German Wine Route. After a year of careful tending, we harvest the grapes for your wine - by hand. Riesling is the most popular German grape variety. It has been grown here for more than 600 years, and today almost half of all Riesling grapes grow in Germany. It was probably even selected from wild vines here in Germany, on the Upper Rhine. Riesling is very well adapted to the colder, northern wine-growing regions. The grapes complete their ripening in the autumn sun. The area of vines assigned to CrowdFarming adoptions is exactly one hectare. Our Riesling grows on loamy sandy soil from red sandstone weathering, which gives the wine a fine fruity note. What is unique about us and our wine? We, Laura and Fabian, are a young couple from the Palatinate, Germany's second largest wine-growing region. We founded KORE in 2015, at that time still alongside our studies in viticulture and international wine business. In the meantime, we have graduated from university and work partly in a winery and partly for KORE, our heart’s project. We think a lot about the sustainability of our work and the impact on people and nature. In the vineyards, we support and encourage soil life and numerous insects through seeded revegetation. Fertilization is done through natural substances such as manure, compost or straw. We do not use insecticides and herbicides. With intensive manual work we take care of our vines and harvest ripe, highly aromatic grapes - the basis for our wines. The highlight of the year is, of course, the grape harvest: All grapes are harvested by hand. That’s why a motivated harvest team is indispensable. We are very lucky that our families and friends help us every year. There is certainly no lack of cheerfulness, which is an important ingredient of our special wines. Your adoption is 7 years old and its productive life is 50 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops being able to produce for any reason, we will replace it with an other, and we guarantee your delivery from the produce of others for that season. Your vines produce an average of 6kg of grapes each season. With this amount we can produce around 4.5l of white wine Riesling PDO Pfalz.

What will you receive?

Each season we will send you a box with: 6 x __White wine Riesling dry 2022, PDO Pfalz__ (0.75l, bottle) In the process of conversion to organic. You will receive your wine in bottles that we recycle and seal with screw caps. An interplay between sweetness and acidity, fruitiness and notes of herbs. We recommend the Riesling to be enjoyed with fried fish or vegetables, as an aperitif or with savoury Palatinate dishes such as Saumagen (pig's stomach), liver dumplings or bratwurst. The wine changes over time. It tastes fresh and fruity in the first two years. After a while, it becomes slightly rounder and is a real pleasure for many years to come. We recommend drinking the wine chilled, at 8-12°C. When it is poured, it unfolds its full aroma in the glass. Longer storage is recommended at a constant temperature. How do we bottle the wines? After the grapes are harvested by hand, alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously without added yeast. After the three-week fermentation, our Riesling matures for several months in stainless steel barrels and large wooden barrels. In spring, we bottle our Riesling. We try to avoid using new glass and use rinsed bottles whenever available. It may be that the reused bottles have small blemishes, but for the wine it does not matter and the CO² emission is much lower. To obtain the technical data and the detailed results of the official tasting done by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming of this wine you can download the technical data sheet that you can find in the "Additional analyses" section.

When will you receive it?

We harvest our grapes in autumn from mid-September until October. After that, the processing and vinification begins. The wine matures in the cellar until the following spring before it is bottled and ready to be shipped to you in the early summer of the following year!

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
