Le d\u00e9fi de l\u2019eau et la solution du sol

<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

En Europe, 20 % des terres et 30 % de la population sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 confront\u00e9es chaque ann\u00e9e au stress hydrique. Les s\u00e9cheresses progressent vers le nord, les inondations s\u2019intensifient au sud, et les sols \u2014 compact\u00e9s et d\u00e9grad\u00e9s par l\u2019agriculture conventionnelle \u2014 ne parviennent plus \u00e0 retenir la pluie qui tombe encore. De plus, les engrais et pesticides ont pollu\u00e9 un tiers des eaux europ\u00e9ennes, entra\u00eenant des co\u00fbts de d\u00e9pollution de plusieurs milliards. L\u2019agriculture conventionnelle n\u2019est pas seulement vuln\u00e9rable aux extr\u00eames climatiques \u2014 elle les aggrave.

<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

La bonne nouvelle, c\u2019est que des sols sains agissent comme des \u00e9ponges. Une augmentation de 1 % de la mati\u00e8re organique permet \u00e0 un hectare de terre de stocker 75 000 litres d\u2019eau suppl\u00e9mentaires et d\u2019am\u00e9liorer les taux d\u2019infiltration jusqu\u2019\u00e0 256 %. Des fermes comme La Junquera, BioSanz et Tropiterr\u00e1neo en sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 la preuve : elles absorbent les crues, r\u00e9duisent de moiti\u00e9 les besoins d\u2019irrigation et transforment m\u00eame des r\u00e9servoirs st\u00e9riles en \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes florissants.

Une vision plus large

La s\u00e9curit\u00e9 hydrique ne d\u00e9pend pas seulement de la pluie ou des barrages \u2014 elle d\u00e9pend de la fa\u00e7on dont nous cultivons nos sols. Soutenir les agriculteurs qui \u00ab r\u00e9coltent la pluie \u00bb, ce n\u2019est pas seulement un choix de consommation : c\u2019est un investissement dans la r\u00e9silience alimentaire, la biodiversit\u00e9 et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 en eau pour nous tous.
