Adopt vinrankor (Sangoviese and Merlot) that we cultivate under the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union since 2009. During the process of adoption you can choose a name that we will engrave on a plaque and hang on your vinrankor. We are situated in the area of Chianti Classico, a renowned wine region. Therefore, it felt natural for us to share with CrowdFarmers the flavours of this region and the wines that represent it the best. The region of Chianti Classico is very small, but it is growing, covering 260 km that starts right after the city of Florence and ends right before the city of Siena. Winemakers looking to cultivate their grapes in this region and producing Chianti Classico, have to be a member of Consorzio Chianti Classico (our governing body). This authority promotes and protects the Chianti Classico brand by controlling and enforcing the rules and regulations that are required to make a real and authentic Chianti Classico and preserve our territory and traditions. There are 3 classifications in the world of Chianti Classico. Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, and Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. The main difference between the 3 is essentially aging and quality. Sangiovese is known for its minerality and it's precisely this soil (terroir) that gives it such unique characteristics. We produce wines full of character, but not overpowering. Wines that tell the story of a beautiful culture and tradition, passionate and meticulous work. Wines that won't damage the environment - a genuine, authentically high-quality product that speaks for itself. In order to produce a higher quality wine, the yield has to be very low, hence from every adopted vine we usually harvest 1.5 kg of grapes which roughly makes 1 bottle. We have received various recognitions and awards from Decanter World, Decanter Asia, James Suckling, Merum, Prague International Competition, Zurich Wine Competition, Veronelli Italian wine guide, among others. Your adoption is NaN years old and its maximum lifespan is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units.
We will send you the box you have chosen in the adoption process. __Big Box:__ 2 x __Chianti Classico di Montemaggio IGT__ (75cl glass bottle) (equivalent to PGI) 2 x__ Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG__ (75cl glass bottle) (equivalent to QWPSR) 2 x __Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG__ (75cl glass bottle) (equivalent to QWPSR) __Small Box:__ 1 x __Chianti Classico di Montemaggio IGT__ (75cl glass bottle) (equivalent to PGI) 1 x __Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG__ (75cl glass bottle) (equivalent to QWPSR) 1 x __Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG__ (75cl glass bottle) (equivalent to QWPSR) This box will include only red wines. We decided to put together this box to allow you to get a taste of our region represented by these local wines. __Chianti Classico di Montemaggio__ is probably the most famous wine from our region and the main component of “Chianti Classico” is a Sangiovese. This grape is considered the king of our territory. Its taste is unique to Tuscany, there is no other region where this grape tastes the same as it does here. Our Chianti Classico consists predominantly of Sangiovese, and we usually add a very small part of Merlot, 3-5% in total but the exact amount varies every year. After the blending process, we taste and determine the right amount. The result is a very elegant, mineral, delicate, but fruity wine with a brilliant ruby red pomegranate colour - slightly resembling the colour of pinot noir. Its aromas are intense but earthy, spiced with wild notes, and enriched with a pinch of red forest fruits. We usually leave the Chianti Classico to age for at least 24 months. In fact, the wine you as a CrowdFarmer will be buying is from 2015, a 6-year-old Chianti Classico which is ready to be consumed now. You may also let it age further for a further 4-5 years. It will be perfect on its own, without any accompanying food or as an aperitif with some olives and slices of young cheese. Otherwise, it goes well with poultry, grain-based salads, light vegetarian dishes, vegetarian light pasta, venison, fresh cheeses, and even a rich oily fish like salmon. It is ideal to chill the wine before serving. It is very important to store the wine well, it doesn't like direct exposure to the sunlight, and it's better to keep wines in a dark and preferably humid space. A basement would be the perfect storage place. Wines ideally should always be stored horizontally. __Chianti Classico Riserva__ is the next category of Chianti Classicos. In this box, you will have a Chianti Classico Riserva 2013 wine. This wine is more intense than the Chianti Classico, it has a deep colour and intense mineral and spicy notes resembling wild berries from the depth of the forest. We recommend enjoying it with rich creamy cheese, meat-based dishes, pasta, or red meat stews. This is a very elegant, full, velvet-smooth yet austere and persistent, pleasantly tannic wine. It will easily keep well for another 6/7 years or even more since it has been aged considerably in the barrel. This will all depend on how the wine is being stored, whether it was being exposed a lot to the sunlight or heat, or if it traveled long distances. The Riserva needs to breathe before you can fully enjoy it. It’s best to open the bottle 1 hour before. If you have a decanter, you can open the bottle and decant it for 30 minutes or so to enjoy it to its full potential. The 3rd and last one in the category is __Chianti Classico Gran Selezione__. This wine is utterly different from our usual Riserva - it is more fresh, incredibly balanced, and never overpowering. This wine will be a perfect pairing to your favourite meat or poultry dishes, but will also accompany any cheese platter or even such a simple dish as spaghetti with tomato sauce. The Gran Selezione 2012 is an even older wine but since it has been aging for a longer time (at least 30 months or so in the barrel), it has an even better shelf life than the Riserva or the Classico. It can be kept for another 8/9 years, provided the storage conditions described above are followed. The same rules apply in terms of breathing before opening and decanting. To obtain the technical data and the detailed results of the official tasting done by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming of this wine you can download the technical data sheet that you can find in the "Additional analyses" section.
När får du det?
During the harvest, each bunch of grapes undergoes considerable selection in the vineyard and later again in the vinery. Harvest is carried out manually, and only when the grapes are perfectly ripe. Therefore, it could be said that Fattoria di Montemaggio’s wines are 100% handmade, and they preserve all the quality of the elements that are a part of the land where they have been cultivated. We will ship the Chianti towards November, when all the harvest is finished. This is also a perfect time to start drinking red wines, as all the heat from the summer fades to cooler evenings and nights, which makes it even more alluring to open a bottle of red wine and warm yourself up.
