Adopt a lemon tree from the "Finca Familia Aguilar" farm in Comares (Spanien) and receive your organic lemons at home. Jessica will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a lemon tree from our farm in Comares (Spanien). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2008. The lemon trees on our farm are of the Fino and Verna varieties, which are actually very similar but produce fruits at different times of the year. The Fino lemon is also known as the Primofiori, which is the most common variety in Spain. It's a perennial tree with thorns, and it can reach up to four metres in height. It's also an early harvesting variety, with the fruit being ready between autumn and spring. The Verna variety is a little taller, also perennial but with fewer thorns, and its harvest goes from spring to summer. Therefore, both varieties complement each other very well and that's why we can offer fresh lemons for most of the year. Both varieties belong to the botanical genus Citrus and the Rutaceae family. The Fino is a 're-flowering' variety and blooms twice a year. The first, between March and July, is the one that produces the winter fruits. The second bloom depends on the temperatures and usually happens in late summer and produces spring fruits. Lemons turn yellow during colder hours, but that doesn't mean they're not ready to eat. That's why at the beginning of the season the colour of lemon is greener, but the fruit is still full of juice. Our lemon trees were planted more than forty years ago by my mother's father, Antonio Aguilar. Our farm is located in the village of La Vega, in a natural environment at an altitude of more than 700 metres. Since 2008, we've held the EU Organic Farming label. Your adoption is 42 years old and its maximum lifespan is 70 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your lemon tree produces an average of 70kg of organic lemons each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 1 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __2kg box of organic lemons__ * Fino (October - April): oval shape; yellow or green skin with a thin and smooth rind; pale yellow pulp; sour flavour * Verna (April-July): elongated shape, medium-large size, almost seedless and low acidity, natural source of vitamin C * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2008 * Harvested on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 7 and 10 fruits * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last up to 2-3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) * You'll see that the first lemons of the season may have a greenish hue, but over the weeks they'll take on the typical yellow tone of this variety
När får du det?
