Adopt a tangerine tree from the farm "La Abuela Magdalena" in Arboleas (Spanien) and receive your orogros tangerines in conversion to organic at home. Magdalena will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a tangerine tree from our farm in Arboleas (Spanien) that we cultivate following the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union. We are already in the process of converting and expect to be officially certified by 2023. Our tangerines trees are young, they were planted on the family farm in 2015. The variety we grow is called orogros, which originated from a spontaneous mutation of the oronules clementine. The tree does not appear to show significant differences from other varieties, except for the absence of thorns on the branches and the characteristics of the fruit. An interesting note is that the tangerine tree belongs to the Rutaceae family, and specifically to the Cytrus genus. It is smaller and thornier than varieties of orange tree, and is more resistant to cold. We grow our fruits following the European Union's organic farming regulations. They grow in our orchard which is located near the Almanzora River. Our region is renowned for growing citrus fruits, and together with my children, I wanted to make this variety more well known. Currently it is not cultivated very much in the area even though it has excellent results in terms of kilos produced and consumer satisfaction. Arboleas is halfway between the sea and the mountains. The Sierra Nevada is not far away, and this provides the required amount of cold weather per year for citrus cultivation. The aquifers of our river have enough water to meet the needs of the tangerine, orange, lemon, and grapefruit trees, resulting in a striking contrast t Your adoption is 7 years old and its maximum lifespan is 25 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your tangerine tree produces an average of 35 kg of orogros tangerines in conversion to organic each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 boxes. Once you paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: 3,5 kg box of__ tangerines in conversion to organic__ * Orogrós (September-October): rounded, somewhat flattened shape, medium size, orange to reddish skin (depending on the time of harvesting, you can get more or less colourful ones, i.e. with green and orange tones), easy to peel, seedless, somewhat soft texture and pleasant taste * Farming in conversion to Organic Farming since 2020 * Harvested on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 8 and 10 fruits (the box contains between 28 and 35 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last up to 15 days in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) The orogrós tangerine is one of the varieties with an early harvest in our region. It ripens when it has not yet reached its orange colour, so if you receive any with yellowish skin, it is very likely that they are still ready to be consumed.
När får du det?
