Adopt 2m² of a meadowsweet plot from "Gabrasrosa" in Pierrefaites (Frankrike) and receive your meadowsweet-based cosmetics at home. Sarah will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

Vad adopterar du?

You adopt 2m² of a meadowsweet plot from our farm in Pierrefaites (Frankrike). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2018. Our wetlands are recognised as having a heritage value by a study commissioned by the Rhône-Mediterranean-Corsica Water Agency. The rich soils provide the ideal habitat for this plant, which is becoming evermore rare due to the increase in intensive agricultural practices. Its Latin name "*Filipendula*" meaning "hanging by a thread" and "*ulmaria*" refers to the resemblance of the shape of the leaves to that of the elm "*ulmus*". It is a large perennial herbaceous plant, about 1 meter high, with a hollow reddish stem and lots of small yellowish-white flowers. Meadowsweet contains salicin, (also called acetylsalicylic acid), which is also found in willow bark. This is why its old name "*Spirea ulmaria*" gave its name to the drug "aspirin". It was one of the sacred plants of the Druids. For a long time, its flexible branches were used to weave flower crowns for the queens of the time. Its smell is very pleasant, resembling sweet almond and vanilla, with a greener and herbaceous note. We are very careful to respect its cycle when we plan the rotation of our goat herds, and we ensure that it can come to flower and seed on several plots each year. The plants are perennial, which means that they come back every year in the same place. By letting them come to seed, we hope that new bushes can develop on our farm. We have been working since 2020 to develop a range of cosmetics, and we have created a set of products that we are now happy to offer you. We harvest the flowers by hand using a sickle at the beginning of July, once the insects, and in particular the bees, have been able to take advantage of their nectar. We then distill and soak the flowers, in order to produce the cosmetics that will be shipped to you. If you like farm to face cosmetics, such as goat's milk soaps and products based on nettle, calendula, lavender or roses, take a look at our other projects. Your adoption produces an average of 1kg of fresh flowers each season. With this amount we can produce around 0.2kg of meadowsweet-based cosmetics.

Vad får du?

Each season we will send you a box with: 1 x __Meadowsweet flower hydrosol__ (100l, aluminum spray bottle) 1 x __Meadowsweet lip balm__ (8g, stick made of grass paper) 1 x __Meadowsweet balm __(45g, paper jar) 1 x __Meadowsweet massage oil__ (50ml, aluminium bottle) __Meadowsweet flower hydrosol __ We distill the meadowsweet flowers on the same day they’re harvested, at the rate of 1 liter of hydrosol for 1 kilo of flowers. For this, we use a copper column still, which preserves the active materials of the plants without risking them breaking down once they come into contact with water (hydrolysis). The still is wood-fuelled, and the wood is harvested during clearing work on our plots. No trees are cut down on purpose since we only harvest trees that fall naturally or are about to die The hydrosol can be sprayed directly on the face. Hold the bottle at a 20 cm distance and spray 2 to 3 times. You can also soak a cotton ball and dab the target areas. Storage advice: preferably keep in the fridge to prevent the development of microorganisms. After opening, consume fairly quickly, preferably within 3 months. Stop using the product if the smell becomes unpleasant. __Meadowsweet lip balm and balm__ Our balms are the result of trials and tests carried out to develop products adapted to our lifestyle. Like many people in the countryside, we spend a lot of time outdoors, in the sun, in the cold, and our skin and lips get dry. We have also formulated them while remaining true to our convictions, therefore with 99.99% local raw materials. They contain the same ingredients, in varying proportions, to adapt their texture to their use. We have chosen to soak the meadowsweet flowers in organic, grass-fed beef tallow. For even more softness, we have incorporated clarified butter that we make from the milk of our goats. Clarified butter is free of serum and casein, and therefore does not go rancid. It gives our balms a slight nutty smell and an incomparable velvety feel. Finally, we add beeswax produced on our farm by the hives of our beekeeper friend to give our balms their texture. The wax captures the benefits of the other ingredients and protects the epidermis with a non-greasy film, which helps limit dehydration in extreme conditions. The body balms also contain some soybean oil, to facilitate skin penetration and give you a great skin feeling after use. Storage advice: keep cool and protected from moisture. To be used within 6 months after opening. __Meadowsweet massage oil __ We soak the meadowsweet flowers at a constant temperature in organic, non-GMO soybean oil, produced on a farm 7 km from us. Soybean oil has a slight smell of toasted hazelnut and penetrates the skin very well, yet remains fluid enough to facilitate massage. Storage advice: keep in a cool place, protected from light. Use preferably within 6 months after opening. __A few explanations on our packaging choices : __ * Hydrosol and massage oil are bottled in aluminum bottles, which protect their contents well from light. For us, this is the best recyclable compromise between the lightness of plastic and the durability of glass. * The balms are packaged in compostable paper jars. We opted for this solution inspired by the principle of zero-waste cosmetics in the form of refills. You can use a durable pot of your choice to decant your balm into, or order a properly sized wooden one on our website. This way, you help to generate less waste while decorating your bathroom in a sustainable way! * The lip balms are packaged in grass paper tubes, without a plastic mechanism but with a cardboard pusher. They are manufactured by a German company. We had a lot of trouble finding an alternative to plastic tubes, and especially a European alternative. We have tested the tubes under heavy use, and we are quite happy with their resistance to everyday life. We hope you like them as much as we do! The ingredient list as well as allergen information can be downloaded from "Additional Analysis".

När får du det?

We harvest the meadowsweet flowers at the beginning of July. Throughout the harvest season, we process them into different products. We distill part of them to make hydrosol, and we soak the other parts in soybean or beef tallow for massage oils and balm production. These activities will keep us busy all summer, until the end of September, when it will be time to prepare the shipments for our CrowdFarmers. Then we'll ship the packages in early October, so you can enjoy our cosmetics all winter long!
