Vad adopterar du?

You adopt a peach tree from our farm in Benalúa (Spanien). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2012. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your peach tree. At Finca Benalúa we grow different varieties of peaches, mainly Catherine, Carson and Andros. These are the ones with the best flavour, meatiness and resistance to transport. In our region, we're renowned for peaches thanks to a deep-rooted tradition with this crop, which also has many other varieties. Our peach trees grow in an ideal environment, as Guadix has the altitude, the sun and the water needed for their optimal growth. The winters are cold, with nights below zero; the incredibly pure water from the Sierra Nevada nourishes our orchards; and our plants bask in the Spanish sun almost all year round. The peach originally comes from the Far East, from where it was brought to Europe by the Roman via ancient Persia, hence its name *Prunus persica*. The trees are small with deciduous leaves and pink to red flowers. They need four to eight hundred hours of cold per year, although spring frosts can affect flowering. Our varieties are adapted to deep sandy loam and clay soils, which are typical of floodplain areas. All our farms are cultivated according to organic farming criteria. We're part of an agricultural cooperative with more than thirty organic peach producers in the region of Guadix (Granada). The fruit you receive will be from one of us, but always following the same farming methods. Your adoption is 11 years old and its maximum lifespan is 20 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your peach tree produces an average of 60kg of organic peaches each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.

Vad får du?

You can reserve between 0 and 0 boxes for the season, and then progressively plan theit delivery for any of the delivery dates available in the shipment calendar. __Shipping format: 3kg box of peaches__ * Catherine (July): rounded shape; medium to large size; golden yellow or orangey skin with a red hue; and a juicy, scented and slightly bitter yellow pulp * Carson (August): slightly oblong rounded shape; medium to large size; orangey-yellow skin with a slight red hue, and a very juicy and scented yellow pulp * Andros (August): rounded shape; medium size; orangey-yellow skin with a slight red hue; and juicy and scented yellow pulp * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2012 * Harvest on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * The box includes some extra fruits, in case some of them arrive damaged * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 5 and 7 fruits (the box contains between 14 and 20 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last up to 7 days in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) * It is a climacteric fruit which is harvested when it reaches physiological maturity; after being picked from the tree it then continues to ripen until it has reached its optimum point for consumption * Important note: the fruits usually arrive hard; to ripen them, keep them at room temperature until they are ready to eat; if you receive some fruit that is already ripe, you can either eat it straight away or keep it in the fridge

När får du det?

The start of the harvest will depend on how the spring has been. If it hasn't been very hot and the frost stayed away, we can start the harvest at the end of June. As we grow different varieties, our season lasts until September.
