Adopt an orange tree from the farm "Cortijo La Palmosa" in Lora del Río (Spanien) and receive your harvest in the form of organic early oranges at home. Margarita will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

Vad adopterar du?

You adopt an orange tree from our farm in Lora del Río (Spanien). Cultivation certified organic by the European Union since 2014. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your orange tree. We grow tree varieties of early oranges at Cortijo La Palmosa, which means that we produce fruit from mid-autumn to the end of winter. Our finca is located in the fertile Guadalquivir Valley, an ideal area for growing oranges. The varieties we grow are Navelina, Navel Late and Salustiana. It's not easy to tell the difference between the varieties and, in general, they have the same properties: a sweet flavour and very juicy. Orange trees differ from other citrus trees because they have greener and narrower leaves, bloom between April and May, reach a height of about three metres, and look the same when there's no fruit on the branches. The variety you receive will depend on the date you order the box. Our oranges fall into two groups, Navel (Navelina, Navel Late) and Valencia (Salustiana). The Valencia variety is also known as a white orange, even though it still has a vibrant orange colour! Navels originated from a natural mutation in 1820 at a monastery in Brazil. You can differentiate them from other varieties as they have a 'navel' on the bottom of the fruit. They're generally easy to peel, may have some seeds, and are characterized by a sweet and intense flavour. Valencia (white) oranges are older and are thought to date back to the 19th century California. They don't have a navel, produce a very rich juice with low acidity, although they're also very good to eat as a fruit. This finca is located in Lora del Río (Andalusia, Spain), between the Hornachuelos Nature Park (where the irrigation water comes from) and the valley of the Guadalquivir River, which is an important orange-growing region in Seville. There are hot summers and mild winters here, with an average of almost 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. This microclimate, along with certified organic production since 2014, means that we can grow good-sized oranges with the excellent flavour typical for the oranges from Seville. Your adoption is 8 years old and its productive life is around 30 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your adoption dies, we will replace it with no additional cost assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. Your orange tree produces an average of 88kg of organic early oranges each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with that amount. This way you will only pay for what you consume and will be able to sell any remaining harvest to others.

Vad får du?

During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 boxes. Once you paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __11kg box of organic oranges__ * Navelina and navelate oranges (from November to the end of March): with their typical navel at the bottom, perfect both for making juices and eating as a fruit, at the beginning of the season, they will be a little more acidic, but they become sweeter as the season progresses * Orange Salustiana (from January to February): they contain very few seeds, have a thinner skin and are very sweet and not bitter at all, they're excellent for juices and all kinds of drinks * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2014 * They are not treated with wax or preservatives (you can use the peel) * We do not store the fruit in cold chambers, they go directly from the tree to your doorstep * Our trees are not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 5 and 8 fruits (the box contains 65-75 fruits approximately, depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 2-3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge)

När får du det?

The early orange season starts in mid-autumn until early spring.
