Adopt 3m² of a melon plot from "Domaine l'Hermiton" in Montlaur-en-Diois (Frankrike) and receive your harvest in the form of organic melons at home. Charlélie will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

Vad adopterar du?

You adopt 3m² of a melon plot from our farm in Montlaur-en-Diois (Frankrike). Cultivation certified organic by the European Union since 1996. The melon originates from Africa, where the Egyptians cultivated it as far back as 500 BC. After the return from the Italian wars in the 15th century, the “Cantaloupe” melon, at that time the property of the Pope, was introduced and cultivated in France in the Charente, from where it takes its current definitive name. Our melons are sown in greenhouses in April and then planted in the ground during May, once the earth has warmed up and the last late frosts are behind us. As this is organic farming, we grow melons in biodegradable corn starch mulches. This has the effect of warming the earth faster, retaining the soil moisture and stifling weeds so that our melons develop with as little competition as possible. Of course, we continue to manually and/or mechanically weed the soil throughout the season in order to facilitate the harvesting operation Your melon plot produces an average of 15kg of organic melons each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with that amount. This way you will only pay for what you consume and will be able to sell any remaining harvest to others.

Vad får du?

During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 2 boxes, which can be increased up to 3 boxes according to your needs. Shipping format:__ 5kg box of organic melons__ * Charentais: round, netted melons with sweet and juicy orange flesh * We can distinguish ripe melons when we begin to notice a cracking around their stalk * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 1996 * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * One kilo contains about one fruit (the box contains 5 fruits approximately, depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last a couple days in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) * It is a climacteric fruit that will continue to ripen once you receive it It is very easy to prepare a melon: take it out of the fridge one hour before eating it, cut it in two, remove its seeds, then cut it into cubes after separating it from its peel, or into balls directly from the half using a teaspoon.

När får du det?

We start harvesting our first melons at the end of July. The first shipment will leave shortly after 15 August.
