Adopt vines from our farm in Cissac (Frankrike). During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your vines. You adopt 3 vinestocks from an old vines parcel in our historical estate, Château Lamothe-Cissac. These vines were purchased by my grand-father, when he bought the estate in the 60’s. The original vineyard was abandoned. In order to start producing wine, he bought these vines which are still alive and in production today. The plants are on average 60 years old, the oldest one was planted in 1949. These parcels have a high density of plantation (between 9000 and 10 000 plants per hectare). Each plant produces little quantity, but the quality is higher than a younger plant. A Cabernet Sauvignon grape cluster weighs 150g and as the plant gets older, each one produces less than a younger one, so around 6 grapes per plant. Cabernet Sauvignon is predominant in these parcels. It represents 75% of this vineyard. Merlot and Petit Verdot are the two other varieties that we cultivate. We are blending these 3 varieties in order to get a very nice wine, typical from our region. Because of the gravel soils which are well draining, the expression of the Cabernet is lovely. Merlot likes clay soils These soils keep more water and it is better for Merlot. At the end, this variety develops red fruits aromas and flower notes. The productive life of vines is around 80 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your vines die, we will replace them with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from others.

Each season we will send you a box with: 3 x __cuvée Château Lamothe-Cissac Vieilles Vignes 2017__ (0.75l, bottle) You will receive a box with 3 bottles of Château Lamothe-Cissac Old Vines. This cuvée can be considered like a typical fine wine from this region. It reflects the expression of the Cabernet Sauvignon, the star variety in our region. After a barrel aging of 12 months, the wine gets a better complexity and gains in depth, finesse and elegance. If you open quite soon a bottle of Château Lamothe Cissac Old Vines, the wine will have an intense purple color. It shows a nice aromatic complexity with a good balance between fruit and oaky notes. In the mouth, some clove aromas are appearing with spicy and tobacco notes. After years of storage, it will develop more roundness. It can be stored 25 years if it is stored well. For storage, a horizontal storage is the best in a room when the temperature does not vary during the year. The best storage conditions are of course a wine cellar with a temperature and humidity control. När får du det?
You may select the delivery date of your box as suggested by the Farmer at check-out. The harvest starts mid-September and finishes mid-October. The Merlot is the first variety that we are picking, because it is the earliest and then, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The vinification lasts until the end of November. The blendings (the mix of the different varieties) are carried out at the end of the year. Then start the barrel aging which will last 12 months on average. And to finish, the wine is bottled (18 months after the harvest).
