Vad adopterar du?

You adopt vines from our farm in Cissac (Frankrike). When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your vines. You adopt 3 vines from a young Malbec plot at our historic property, Château Lamothe-Cissac. Malbec is one of Bordeaux's six historic grape varieties, but it is now not planted as much as it used to be. We wanted to give it a special place by vinifying it separately and making it a separate cuvée. Malbec has many other names, depending on the region in which it is grown; it can be called Cot, Préchat or Tinturin. It is native to the vineyards of Quercy and Cahors, but it was later planted in Bordeaux and was even the majority grape variety before 1874! This plot was planted at high density, at 6,500 feet / hectare. This means that each vine produces few clusters. The size of the vines on this plot of Malbec is typical of the size practised in the Médoc, namely the Guyot double size. This consists of keeping only two fruiting branches of year N, which will carry the buds (and therefore the future clusters) of year N+1. As this plot is young (we planted it in 2017), the yield per hectare from it is low. It is about 20 hectolitres/ hectare. The plot, as well as our entire vineyard, is certified as having High Environmental Value - Level 3. But our steps go beyond this certification: we have planted hedges to shelter insects that help us to naturally fight pests, we have set up tillage to stop the use of herbicides, and we have signed a partnership with the Conservatoire des Races d'Aquitaine to have sheep on our land during the autumn. This cuvée is produced in AOC Haut-Médoc. This AOC is located on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, between Gironde and the Atlantic Ocean. It benefits from the influx of the ocean and a temperate climate, which avoids heavy heat that could lead to excessive water stress. The terroir of this AOC consists of two main types of soil: limestone clay and gravel. These soils are perfectly suited to the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Your adoption is 3 years old and its maximum lifespan is 75 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your adoption produces an average of 9kg of grapes each season. With this amount we can produce around 2.25l of red wine Malbec Fabre on the Rocks AOC Haut-Médoc.

Vad får du?

Each season we will send you a box with: 3x __Red wine Malbec Fabre on the Rocks 2020 AOC Haut-Médoc__ (0.75l each, bottle) We chose the name Fabre on the Rocks for several reasons: the most important refers to the terroir. The soil of this plot consists of limestone pebbles that dot the surface, ‘Rocks’ is therefore clearly an allusion to the soil, but also, music - and especially rock - accompanies us throughout our working days, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, so we wanted to give a little nod to that with this new cuvée! The wine is bottled with technological cork stoppers, which ensure sensory neutrality and very good homogeneity from one stopper to another. Tasting notes: - Visual phase: The colour is purple with deep reflections. - Olfactory phase: red fruit, violet, plum. - Taste phase: This wine has a nice freshness on the palate, spicy notes typical of this grape with aromas of black fruits. The wine was aged only in vats and not in barrels to preserve its juicy and fruity side. The maceration is quite long but light in order to obtain the optimal quantity of fruits and tannins. Fabre on the Rocks is a juicy, fruity cuvée. We therefore recommend it with light dishes, charcuterie and cheese platters. In terms of conservation, the wine is to be consumed within 4 years. It should preferably be stored in a room where the temperature does not vary and is ideally around 12-13°C. When you open the bottle, it is ideal to decant the wine 30 minutes before tasting. This wine was officially tasted by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming. For more information please download the technical data sheet that you can find when clicking on the "Additional analyses" seal. Please note that the technical data sheet may correspond to the vintage of the previous year and not to the wine you will receive as the tasting only considers completely aged wines.

När får du det?

The harvest of the grapes takes place between mid-September and mid-October. Malbec is a rather late variety so we will harvest it after the Merlots. The winemaking goes on until the following November. The making of blends (mixing of the different grape varieties) takes place at the end of the year, after harvesting. Then comes the vatting period, which lasts for approximately 6 months. After that, bottling takes place. You will receive your case of 3 bottles of Fabre on the Rocks in mid-November.
