Adopt a cow from the flock of "Bauer Freigeist" in Gardelegen (Tyskland) and receive your Demeter organic cheese "Puristik" at home. Linda will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. As the production coming from one cow is big, the adoption is shared among various people. If you wish to have a bigger share, you may adopt more than once. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time in case the preparation has not started yet.
You adopt a cow from our farm in Gardelegen (Tyskland). The livestock farming and the produce are both certified as organic by the European Union as of 2016, and as Demeter as of 2021. A dairy cow (Holstein, Jersey, Fleckvieh and crosses of these three breeds) can be adopted. The Jersey cow, the smallest of them all, comes from the Jersey Islands and is a very robust breed with small calves. The Holstein cow originally comes from the larger area in our country (northern Germany) and is nowadays the most popular dairy breed. The Fleckvieh, however, originates from the Alpine region and is a meat dual-purpose breed; it brings an extra portion of robustness. Our herd counts about 300 dairy cows of which more and more form part of this CrowdFarming project. The organic orientation of arable farming and dairy farming is a central part of our philosophy and our milk has been certified with the EU Organic seal since 2017. We want to build a bridge between ecology and economy. We actively face the challenges of a future-oriented, sustainable agriculture with an ecological character. We are dairy farmers with all our heart and, since 2019, organic cheesemakers by conviction. All our products are traditionally manufactured and reflect the art of cheesemaking. Each cheese is unique and passes through our hands several times. All our products are made from our own organic milk. Only selected organic herbs are used. Our small farm dairy "Bauer Freigeist" is part of the family business. About our offspring: The male calves go through the same 'rearing process' as the females. All calves go through my mother's hands. The care and rearing of calves needs special intuition. It simply needs a maternal instinct. Like a toddler, she has to recognise if something is wrong with her fosterlings by their movements or breathing. The bulls (male calves) are then sold to a fattener who raises them further. We are still looking for a nearby organic calf breeder with whom we can work more closely. Our flock has an average age of 5 years and the maximum lifespan of a cow is about 7 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and we guarantee your delivery from the production of other units. Your adoption produces an average of 4500l of Demeter organic cow's milk each season. With this amount we can produce around 450kg of Demeter organic cheese "Puristik". 375 CrowdFarmers will share the adoption, and each one will receive a box containing 1.2kg of Demeter organic cheese "Puristik".

Our cheese classics cover it all! __Matured meadow cheese, Gouda style:__ We have developed the meadow cheese ourselves according to our taste: salt content, degree of ripeness, rind and red smear culture are all coordinated in our recipe. This cheese loves to take its time. Every day during the maturing process, which lasts at least 2 months, it gains in intensity; the cheese wheel also wants to be turned and caressed with red smear. Natural rind without wax, everything can be eaten. __Blue cheese, Saint Agur style:__ A natural, handmade soft cheese that we "inoculate" with a blue mould, resulting in the typical blue veins in the cheese and a very unique aroma! This cheese goes particularly well on a cheese platter, with grapes and crackers, and of course on its own on bread or with jam. Can also be stored outside the fridge for several weeks in the cooler months (always separate from other cheese) and should not be eaten cold (because of the aroma development). __Soft cheese wedge, Brie-style:__ Our Demeter organic Brie for you, a natural, hand-scooped soft cheese with a slightly spicy note, 14-18 days of ripening. It is wonderfully tender and creamy and tastes delicious on its own, on bread or with a glass of wine. Can also be stored outside the fridge for several weeks in the cooler months (always separate from other cheeses) and should not be eaten cold (because of the aroma development). __Semi-hard cheese:__ Here we surprise you so that it doesn't get boring: One of 3 delicious cheeses can end up in your box: __Demeter organic Volldamer: __A real bull's eye in the Leerdamer style! Actually, this cheese is almost impossible to find in the organic sector, but we free spirits are keen to experiment and proudly present you our nutty Volldamer with many holes and an edible rind ;-) For an extra delicious snack! or: __Smoked Demeter organic cheese "Rauchi":__ a very creamy, smoked cheese. Its smoky character makes it stand out as something special among the cheese varieties. The unobtrusive smoky note rounds off the creamy cheese in taste. It is also perfect for gratinating, on top of burger patties or as a Swiss raclette over a good mixed bread with sour gherkins and onions. Edible red-smeared rind. or: __Demeter organic cheese "Tilsiter": __Tili is a very intense Tilsiter-style cheese, it smells very aromatic and has a spicy and creamy taste and a very moist edible rind. It tastes delicious on a cheese platter, on bread or also with wine. You will find the best-before date on your cheese. In most cases, however, it will keep much longer if stored in the fridge - trust your sense of sight, smell and taste. Before eating, we recommend bringing it to room temperature so that the cheese can fully develop its aromas. All our cheeses are handmade from the pasteurised milk of our own cows in organic Demeter husbandry with traditional calf rennet and are truly unique. We cut the pieces by hand, so the weights may vary slightly.
