You adopt 48m² of ett risfält from our farm in Robbio (Italien). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2002. This resilient crop is sown in May and harvested in October, and is an annual herbaceous plant that grows under almost permanent submerged conditions. We cultivate the Carnaroli variety, which can be recognised by its very tall plant, reaching between 80 and 150 cm in height. This can make the harvesting very difficult though as the plant starts to fold towards the ground. The field in which we grow our rice is called Cru n. 5, and is the result of terroir study. It comes from the poorest sands of the soil, where the plants have to make a great effort to absorb the micronutrients which give their grains a unique flavour and taste. Together with our rice, you will also receive millet, this crop is sown in early summer and harvested in September. Agronomically, it is perfect for crop rotation as this crop releases nutrients and nitrogen, increasing soil fertility. Gambero Rosso awarded us second place overall in the ranking of the best farmhouse carnaroli, and we were included in the Top Italian Food 2022 guide. The cultivation techniques we use are "according to nature", and we follow the teachings of the Japanese master Fukuoka. This has enlightened my path to organic farming, which improves the yields during processing and gives the products greater flavour. The soil is no longer plowed (which preserves its microbiota), the sowing is done only on firm land with minimum tillage techniques (minimum tillage or strip till), and crops are grown alongside other plant species such as a a cereals (rice, maize, or wheat) and legumes (clover or peas). Each risfält produces an average of 3kg of organic regenerative Carnaroli rice and organic regenerative millet per season.
Each season we will send you a box with: 2 x __Semi-whole Carnaroli Cru n.5__ ( 500g, plastic and paper package) 2 x __Risotto with Nettle__ (215g, plastic and paper package) 2 x __Hulled millet__ (500g, plastic and paper package) __Semi-wholemeal Carnaroli__ rice has the same shape and taste as white rice, but changes in colour because the pericarp tissues are still present on the outside. It provides more lipids, proteins, and fibers, while refined Carnaroli rice has a higher concentration of starch, vitamins, and minerals. It is perfect for soups. Our __Risotto__ is repared with superfine Carnaroli rice and nettle that grows in our fields next to the rice plantations. All ingredients are organically produced. Not recommended for those allergic to celery. Fresh taste and creamy texture after cooking. __Millet__ is an ideal food for fresh summer recipes, it has a neutral flavour which is why it can be used to accompany both sweet and savory dishes. To preserve the rice and millet at its best, keep the products in a dry place to prevent moisture, once the package is opened store it in a cool, dry place. During the summer months you can even keep it in the fridge.

We will send the rice in April. Before being packaged, the rice is processed after maturing in silos protected by fine diatomaceous earth (seaweed) dust for around 9 months. This concentrates the flavours and accentuates the flavour of the grains.
