Adopt 10m² of a quinoa plant stock from "Mudda Natur" in Wölfersheim (Duitsland) and receive your quinoa's finest at home. Johannes will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you have received your quinoa's finest and enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.
You adopt 10m² of a quinoa plant stock from our farm in Wölfersheim (Duitsland) that we cultivate following the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union. We are already in the process of converting and expect to be officially certified by 2025. You adopt an approx. 10m² quinoa plant stock in northwest Germany. The plant Quinoa (*Chenopodium quinoa*) belongs to the foxtail family (Amaranthaceae), not to the family of classic cereals (grasses = Poaceae), although it has a similar use in the kitchen as a healthy source of starch, protein, and energy. It is particularly popular because it is gluten-free. The genetic origin of quinoa is in Peru, almost 11,000 km away, at the very high altitude Lake Titicaca, where it has been cultivated for about 5,000 years and has traditionally been a staple food. Quinoa is still widely cultivated in South America today. This plant is not only able to cope with difficult conditions such as barren soils or high altitudes, but also with climate change. It is known for its tolerance of extreme pH values in the soil, ground frost, drought, and nutrient deficiency. We have been growing quinoa on our family farm in Germany for nine years now, and do not use chemical pesticides or mineral fertilizers for cultivation. You can download the analysis of our harvest above. The care and cultivation of quinoa here in the Münsterland region is very similar to traditional cereals such as rye or wheat, i.e. it is sown, tended to, flowered, matured, and finally threshed with a combine harvester. Your quinoa plant stock produces an average of 3kg of white whole grain quinoa each season. With this amount we can produce around 1.95kg of quinoa's finest.
Each season we will send you a box with: 1 x __whole grain quinoa__ (500g bag) 1 x __whole grain quinoa fusilli__ (500g bag) 1 x __Whole grain quinoa flour__ (500g bag) 1 x __Quinoa pops__ (180g bag) 1 x __Quinoa heart crunchies__ (120g bag) 1 x __Quinoa dark chocolate chunks with hazelnut__ (150g bag) What is special about our __whole grain quinoa__ is that it does not need to be washed/rinsed, peeled or soaked before cooking. So you can prepare it straight away and create delicious dishes like quinoa salad, warm dishes like quinoa fritters or breakfast porridge. There are many recipes! In contrast to the usual South American imported goods, our quinoa does not contain any bitter substances (so-called saponins). On the contrary, it tastes pleasantly mild and slightly nutty. This saves water, work, and preserves valuable nutrients in and under the shell, which is so appreciated in whole grain products. When you receive your quinoa, you can either store it in the coated paper bags in a dry and cool place, or you can transfer it into an airtight container. Quinoa doesn't actually have an expiry date, but for legal reasons we do specify a minimum shelf life of two years. The __Quinoa fusilli__ only needs to be cooked for 90 - 120 seconds to be al dente. Feel free to enjoy it with a tomato sauce, herb pesto, or fresh mushrooms and veggies. Since the pasta is made with over 90% of our whole grain quinoa, it has a great nutty flavour. The remaining ingredients are: a little potato flour, locust bean gum, and salt, which literally just hold the pasta together. The quinoa fusilli is naturally gluten-free and vegan, and is made nearby at a regional pasta farm. We grind the __quinoa flour__ ourselves in the Nispelmühle in Gladenbach near our farm. Together with the miller we take care of the production and are happy to support another family business in the region. The flour is great for baking bread or rolls, but also for pastries and cakes with nuts or chocolate. The __Quinoa Pops__ are ready to eat and taste especially good as a crunchy topping on muesli or salads, as a baking ingredient or just pure as a small snack between meals. It is pure quinoa, which is 'puffed' by hot air and thus gets its special texture. As breakfast cereal, as a snack in between meals, or as a topping on soups, salads and bowls; our quinoa crunchies make children's hearts beat faster. By the way, it doesn't matter if the child is only seven or already forty-two years old. Our crunchies are pressure formed into our pretty __heart crunchies__ with the addition of a little rice flour and sugar. If we had to describe the taste of our __crunchy quinoa chocolate chips__ made from quinoa pops and dark chocolate in one word, we wouldn't be able to avoid inventing a completely new one. So we'd rather sit back, relax, and snack on three, four, eight more pieces. Once received you can either store your quinoa products in the coated paper bags in a dry and cool place, or transfer them to an airtight container. Quinoa doesn't really have an expiration date, but we still give it a minimum shelf life of two years for legal reasons. The pasta will keep for as long as three years if stored in a dry, dark place. For the quinoa pops, quinoa crunchies, and quinoa chocolate chunks, we specify a shelf life of at least half a year when stored in a dry and dark place. The ingredient list as well as allergen information can be downloaded from "Additional Analysis".

Quinoa is harvested in late summer. Afterwards it has to be dried so that it can be stored permanently. Furthermore the harvest is cleaned - plant remains and components of herbs (which sometimes arise because we do not use pesticides) must be removed. Then it will be processed step by step into delicious products that are finally ready for shipment to you CrowdFarmers.
