Adopt 10m² of a vegetable plot from "La Oizéenne" in Oizé (Frankrijk) and receive your organic autumn vegetables at home. Pierre will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

Wat adopteer je?

You adopt 10m² of a vegetable plot from our farm in Oizé (Frankrijk). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union since 2021. We have several varieties of autumn vegetables: celeriac, swede, spaghetti squash and sweet potato. These forgotten heirloom varieties will let you rediscover the flavours of vegetables you may have eaten when you were little! These vegetables are annual varieties. The plot where they are grown today had lain fallow for about ten years. The soil has completely regenerated and we certified this plot as Organic Farming in 2021. Celeriac seeds are sown between February and April. Once the seedling has three leaves, we go ahead and transplant it. In May we carry out the final planting in soil worked with compost. The celeriac is then harvested by hand between July and October. We sow Helenor or Friese Gele swede seeds in humus-rich soil between May and June, mulching it to preserve minimum humidity. The vegetables are harvested at the beginning of September. Spaghetti squash seeds are sown in a sandy plot in April/May. The squash usually takes 4 months to mature. The squashes are then picked by hand from August, every day from Monday to Sunday. To guarantee best-quality products, they must be harvested when ripe and must not exceed a certain size. After the last frosts, in spring we plant Beauregard sweet potato seedlings in sandy soil. Sweet potato cultivation begins in October, when we manually remove three-quarters of the leaves to optimise maturation. The sweet potatoes are then harvested by hand from October to November. We keep the plot free from weeds using two techniques: mechanical hoeing with a tool or hoeing by hand. Each plant produces its vegetable and then dies. Your vegetable plot produces an average of 6kg of organic autumn vegetables each season.

Wat krijg je?

Each season we will send you a box with: 1 x__ Organic celeriac__ (1 piece) 1 x __Organic Helenor or Friese Gele swede__ (minimum 1kg) 1 x __Organic spaghetti squash__ (1 piece) 1 x __Organic Beauregard sweet potato__ (minimum 1kg) You will receive 6kg of mixed vegetables to let you discover the flavours of each organic variety we grow. __Organic celeriac__: a root vegetable with a round shape and a white colour. It has a very fragrant taste with a touch of hazelnut and slightly spicy. It brings a touch of creativity and flavour to various dishes: celeriac purée, celeriac risotto, celeriac soup with coconut milk, etc. __Organic swede__: a root vegetable that looks like a turnip, but is distinguished by its yellow flesh. They can also be told apart by their leaves: a swede's are smooth like those of a cabbage, while a turnip's are rough and hairy. The swede has a surprising taste: quite pronounced, with powerful flavours and earthy notes. To appreciate its flavour, we recommend cooking it as a duo with mashed potatoes, in a gratin or in a crumble with other heirloom vegetables (carrot, beetroot, sweet potato, etc.) __Organic spaghetti squash__: also called vegetable spaghetti, it is a unique squash. It takes its name from its flesh, which once cooked is cut into long strands, and its slightly fragrant taste; all reminiscent of the famous Italian pasta. You can cook it like pasta: with carbonara, bolognese, pesto. __Organic sweet potato__: a tuber with an elongated shape, slightly red skin and orange pulp. Its taste is very sweet, reminiscent of chestnuts, and it is enjoyed for its tender, floury flesh. Eaten cooked, peeled or not, it's as good in sweet as savoury recipes: fried, mashed, stir-fried, in a curry, tarte, cake. These vegetables should be stored differently according to the variety: celeriac can be kept in your fridge's vegetable drawer for 5 days and swede for 3 weeks, while spaghetti squash and sweet potato should be stored away from light in a cellar or garage for up to 3 weeks.

Wanneer ontvang je het?

The vegetables are sown between February and June, ready for a harvest in early September. You will receive your 6kg of autumn vegetables between September and December.
