Adopt 1m² of a lavandin flower bed from "Gabrasrosa" in Pierrefaites (Frankrijk) and receive your lavandin-based cosmetics at home. Sarah will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

Wat adopteer je?

You adopt 1m² of a lavandin flower bed from our farm in Pierrefaites (Frankrijk). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2016. Lavandin is a hybrid, a natural cross between the two Lavender species, *L. angustifolia* and *L. latifolia*. Cultivated for almost 100 years, it is sterile like most hybrids, and must therefore be propagated by cuttings (taking a branch from a mother plant and planting in conditions that allow it to produce roots and therefore a new plant). Its essential oil has a strong scent, with more camphor notes than lavender, and it is widely used in perfumery. We planted the "Grosso" variety, which is the most adapted to the climate and growing conditions of our farm, and isn't very susceptible to diseases. This variety appreciates the sandy-loamy soil of our agroforestry plot with rows of fruit trees separating the rows of perfume plants. Deer don't like it...fortunately! On the other hand, this plant does not like competition from neighbouring vegetation. After several attempts at mulching, mechanical weeding, etc. we decided to cover the rows with a recyclable woven cover. For us, it is the most efficient system in terms of fossil fuel consumption and working time. We also noticed that reptiles (snakes, slow worms, etc.) like to settle under the coverage to lay eggs and moult. We planted our lavandins in 2019, and in 2021, we were able to harvest the first flowers, distil them and develop a range of cosmetics that we are happy to offer you now. In terms of composition, lavandin is unbeatable. As it is a hybrid between two types of lavender, it contains linalool and linalyl acetate like true lavender and camphor, eucalyptol in similar amounts to spike lavender. Its smell, which inevitably makes you think of Provence, is comforting, soothing and has anti-stress properties. It also repels insects, very practical when you want to enjoy the sweet summer nights in peace! If you like farm to face cosmetics, such as goat's milk soaps and products based on nettle, calendula, meadowsweet or rose, take a look at our other projects. Your adoption produces an average of 3kg of fresh flowers each season. With this amount we can produce around 0.3kg of lavandin-based cosmetics.

Wat krijg je?

Each season we will send you a box with: 1 x __Lavender flower hydrosol__ (100ml, aluminium pump bottle) 1 x__ Lavandin soap__ (100g, kraft cardboard box and paper label) 1 x __Lavandin lip balm__ (8g, grass paper tube) 1 x__ Lavandin balm__ (45g, paper jar) 1 x__ Lavender massage oil__ (50ml, aluminium bottle) __Lavender flower hydrosol:__ We distil the lavandin flowers on the same day they're harvested, at a ratio of 1 litre of hydrosol for 1 kg of flowers. For this, we use a copper column still, which preserves the active ingredients of the plantsand prevents them breaking down when they come into contact with water (hydrolysis). The still is wood-fuelled, and the wood is harvested during clearing work on our plots. No trees are cut down on purpose since we only harvest trees that fall naturally or are about to die. Storage advice: preferably in the refrigerator, to prevent the development of microorganisms. After opening, consume fairly quickly, preferably within 3 months. Stop using it if the smell becomes unpleasant. __Lavandin soap: __ Produced in cold process and therefore containing moisturising glycerin, contains lavandin essential oil, blue clay and 17% goat's milk from our flock. The fats (rapeseed oil and tallow) come from neighbouring organic farms. Storage advice: in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Use preferably within 18 months of opening. __Lavandin lip balm and lavandin balm:__ Our balms are the result of trials and tests carried out to develop products adapted to our lifestyle. Like many people in the countryside, we spend a lot of time outdoors, in the sun, in the cold, and our skin and lips get tremendously dry. We have also formulated them while remaining true to our convictions, therefore with 99.99% local raw materials. They contain the same ingredients, in varying proportions, to adapt their texture to their use. We have chosen to soak the lavandin flowers in organic, grass-fed beef tallow. For even more softness, we have incorporated clarified butter that we make with the milk of our goats. Clarified butter is free of serum and casein, and therefore does not go rancid. It gives our balms a little nutty smell and an incomparable velvetiness. Finally, the stability of the texture of our balms is ensured by beeswax produced on our farm by the hives of our beekeeper friend. The wax captures the benefits of the other ingredients and protects the epidermis with a non-greasy film, which helps limit dehydration in extreme conditions. The body balms also contain some soybean oil, to facilitate skin penetration and give you a great skin feeling after use. Storage advice: cool and protected from moisture. To be used within 6 months after opening. __Lavandin massage oil:__ We soak the lavandin flowers at a constant temperature in organic, non-GMO soybean oil, produced on a farm 7 km from us. Soybean oil has a slight smell of toasted hazelnut and penetrates the skin very well, yet remains fluid enough to facilitate massages. Storage advice: in a cool place, protected from light. Use preferably within 6 months after opening. __A few explanations on our packaging choices: __ * Hydrosol and massage oil are bottled in aluminium bottles, which protect their contents well from light. For us, this is the best recyclable compromise between the lightness of plastic and the durability of glass. * The balms are packaged in compostable paper jars. We opted for this solution inspired by the principle of zero-waste cosmetics in the form of refills. You can use a durable pot of your choice decant your balm into or order a properly sized turned wooden one on our website. In this way, you help to generate less waste while decorating your bathroom in a sustainable way! * The lip balms are packaged in grass paper tubes, without a plastic mechanism but with a cardboard pusher. They are manufactured by a German company. We had a lot of trouble finding an alternative to plastic tubes, and especially a European alternative. We have tested the tubes under heavy use, and we are quite happy with their resistance to everyday life. We hope you like them as much as we do! The ingredient list as well as allergen information can be downloaded from "Additional Analysis".

Wanneer ontvang je het?

We harvest the lavender flowers in July, by hand using a sickle once the insects, and butterflies in particular, have been able to enjoy their nectar. We distil part of it to make hydrosol and essential oil, and we soak the other part in soybean or beef tallow for massage oils and balms. These activities will keep us busy all summer, until the end of September, when it will be time to prepare your shipments. We will then send the boxes at the beginning of October, and you can enjoy our cosmetics all winter long!
