Adopt a grape vine from the farm "Finca Macabeo" in Jumilla (Spanje) and receive your table grapes at home. Antonio will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a grape vine from our farm in Jumilla (Spanje) that we cultivate following the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union. We are already in the process of converting and expect to be officially certified by 2023. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your grape vine. When we think of grapes, we all think of a bottle of wine, but the table grape is an exquisite fruit. These grapes are generally eaten while fresh. They are more flavoursome and have a lower sugar content than grapes used for winemaking. Our vines are of the white grape variety itumseventeen and the red grape variety itumfifteen. Both are varieties that have only recently arrived on the market, as they were created by ITUM (the Murcia Society for Table Grape Research and Technology), which has been responsible for research into the improvement of varieties of this crop in our region, Murcia. That is why we decided to grow them here in Jumilla. The two varieties that we grow at Finca Macabeo are seedless. They are crisp grapes, not very sensitive to diseases, resistant to handling and they keep well in cold storage. As far as the itumfifteen variety is concerned, it has a particular feature: it is a table grape that is resistant to one of the most damaging diseases for this crop: powdery mildew. As a result, it is a variety that leads to a more sustainable agriculture, ideal for organic cultivation, as it eliminates the need for treatments against this fungus. The vines grow on a pole that acts as a guide while the plant is growing. They measure 1.9 m, a height that allows us to walk beneath the vines, making it easier to supervise and manage the crop. This separation between the fruit and the soil also prevents heat and humidity from affecting the grapes. We keep the crop covered with netting so that hailstones do not spoil the crop. Your adoption is 5 years old and its maximum lifespan is 25 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your grape vine produces an average of 2kg of table grapes each season.
Each season we will send you a box with: __2 kg of table grapes in conversion (paper bag)__ * Itumseventeen (mid-July to mid-August): Seedless white grapes, slightly oblong and greenish in colour, crisp texture and aromatic flavour * Itumfifteen (from mid-July to the end of August): Red, seedless grapes with large berries, a crisp texture and a muscatel flavour * Crisp, resistant grape varieties with a low disease susceptibility * Depending on availability, you will receive a variety in the box * Ideal for eating fresh, uncooked, and an easy way to have fruit as a dessert or snack; they can also be served with your cheese boards, sweeten your cakes or make a delicious jam * Farming in conversion to organic and biodynamic farming since 2020 * Harvest on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * We do not store fruits in cold chambers, they go directly from the tree to your doorstep * If you keep them in the fridge, they can last up to 10 days in good condition; they will keep longer if you keep them in an airtight container and wash them as you eat them * Avoid storing them near foods with strong odours, such as leeks or onions
