Adopt a plot of artichokes from the farm "BioTrailla" in Buñuel (Spanje) and receive your harvest in the form of organic artichoke at home. Carlos will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

Wat adopteer je?

You adopt 5m² of a plot of artichokes from our farm in Buñuel (Spanje). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2010. On these five square metres of land that you can adopt, we grow artichokes - or *Cynara scolymus* L. - of the Blanca de Tudela variety. Some people are surprised to learn that what we know as the artichoke is actually the flower of this plant so popular in Spain and increasingly present on menus at our best restaurants. At Finca La Noria we've been working the land for four generations and we've held the organic farming certification since 2010. We've created a farm that respects the environment and all living beings that make up our ecosystem. We use our brand BioTrailla to sell all the products we grow, such as the organic white Tudela artichoke. This is our signature product and one of the most complex crops to grow. The artichoke is a plant with an edible flower, including the stems if they're tender. Its roots are capable of producing cuttings, which we call 'zuecas' here. Thanks to them, we multiply our crops year after year in the month of June by uprooting and splitting the roots. In July, we replant them so that the new plant can start to grow, giving us its first flowers during the winter (frost permitting) and fuller ones in the springtime. This plant comes from North Africa and Southern Europe. It was first grown in the Roman era, with local varieties being selected that today are the basis of our plantations. In Al-Andalus, or Muslim Spain, this vegetable was grown and the foundations of today's cultivation were laid. Back at that time, the artichoke was grown from seed in the first year and propagated by splitting the roots in the following years, as we still do today. Your plot of artichokes produces an average of 9kg of organic artichoke each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.

Wat krijg je?

You can reserve between 0 and 0 boxes for the season, and then you can plan the delivery of your boxes for any of the delivery dates available in the shipment calendar. Shipping format: __2 kg box of organic artichokes__ * Tudela artichokes: rounded shape; fresh and firm; intense flavour; tender leaves and juicy heart * Each artichoke is cut with a bit of stem (between 2 and 3 cm), which is tender and tasty. It also helps maintain hydration during transport * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2010 * Remove the outer leaves and cut off the tips (they're usually hard) before or after boiling until you achieve the desired texture * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * One kilo contains between 6 and 10 artichokes (the box contains between 12 and 20 units depending on the size) * Keep the artichokes in the fridge or in a cool, dry place until you decide to eat them, but they're much tastier if eaten fresh

Wanneer ontvang je het?

Artichoke farming is one of the most demanding types of agriculture, with each season starting in June with the splitting and preparation of the new roots that we'll plant in July. In the following months, the plants begin to grow and provide the first artichokes in the month of December. This is when the harvest begins, which goes on until the late spring. However, frosts interrupt our harvest for a few weeks every year, usually in January and February.
