You adopt an avocado tree from our farm in Bugarra (Spagna) that we cultivate following the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union. We are already in the process of converting and expect to be officially certified by 2023. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your avocado tree. The Lamb Hass avocado is a subtropical crop that comes from a seed selected from a cross pollination of the Gwen variety. The avocado tree belongs to the Lauraceae family. It is a vigorous plant that blooms throughout spring and ripens at the same time as the fruits are being picked. Our form of cultivation is based on environmentally friendly agriculture. In 2021, we started the process to obtain the organic farming certificate for both tomatoes and avocados on the La Salada farm. To avoid the use of herbicides and contain weeds, we use biodegradable plastic in the soil, which also helps retain moisture and save irrigation water. All our crops are irrigated with our own source of water that is very rich in calcium and magnesium. This gift from nature means that all our irrigation water naturally contains constant levels of these important minerals. Each litre of water used to irrigate our tomato and avocado crops naturally contains approximately 350mg of calcium and 185mg of magnesium, which come from the water flowing over a natural calcium-magnesium layer. Some of the avocados from our La Salada farm have skin imperfections or scratches caused by the friction of the branches in windy conditions. Although these fruit have the same internal quality as those in good condition, we don't deliver them to our clients in order to avoid them arriving at their destination in bad conditions. In this way, and in order to promote the circular economy of our farm, we have made a delicious cocoa spread with 26% of imperfect avocados in conversion to organic which are of very good quality. We are therefore helping to avoid wasting the fruit of our harvest. Although the avocado used is a product of organic conversion, the rest of the ingredients in this spread are all organically grown. And once we have completed the conversion process of our avocado plantation we want to be able to continue to produce this spread, but this time with a guarantee that 100% of the ingredients used are actually organically grown. Your adoption produces an average of 1kg of rejected avocados each season. With this amount we can produce around 1.23kg of cocoa and avocado spread.

The avocado and cocoa spread is made during the season to convert our plantation to organic and using the avocado that cannot be sent. With the type of farming we do and thanks to the latitude and climate of our region, the production process takes just over six months, which means that we can have this product available all year round, given the 12-month consumption period.
