Adopt an avocado tree from the farm "Font del Salsero" in Sollana (Spagna) and receive your oraganic avocados at home. Berta will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You adopt an avocado tree from our farm in Sollana (Spagna). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2022. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your avocado tree. The avocado tree is very vigorous and needs to be carefully pruned twice a year. It flowers throughout spring, so it coincides with the ripening of the fruits that are in harvest. It's very important to choose the optimal ripening time to collect avocados. The entire harvesting and packaging process is carried out meticulously by hand so as not to bruise or damage the fruit. This is our secret so that you can enjoy all the quality of our avocados. Fortunately, the avocado trees in our area have very few pests. By using organic fertilisers that nourish the plants well, keep them healthy, and make sure that they're welcoming to beneficial fauna and natural predators, our avocados grow happily without the need for any synthetic chemicals. That's why we can guarantee that they're 100% free of any chemical residues. This is reflected by the organic farming certificate and the hundreds of flowers that grow during the spring alongside the avocado trees. We hope to continue producing our avocados for many years and we'd even like our children to do so after us. This is why we care so much about the across-the-board sustainability of the farm and its environment, in particular when it comes to the water consumption of our avocados. The roots of avocado trees are very shallow and although they need moisture, they often come out of the ground in search for oxygen. It's easy to see them around the trunks of adult trees. We have a modern irrigation system on our farm so that we can give each tree the water it needs without wasting a single drop. On top of that, we have the advantage of being located in an area with natural runoff, with an artesian well in the middle of the farm. This makes it easy for the trees to find moisture in the ground without the roots getting waterlogged. Your adoption is 3 years old and its productive life is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops being able to produce for any reason, we will replace it with an other, and we guarantee your delivery from the produce of others for that season. Your avocado tree produces an average of 24kg of oraganic avocados each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 boxes. Once you paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __4kg box of avocados__ * Lamb Hass (April - May): pear-shaped, medium-large size, rough skin, green colour that turns black when ripe, creamy texture, more intense flavour, greater amount of fat * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2022 * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 3 and 5 fruits (the box contains between 12 and 20 fruits depending on the size) * Keep them at room temperature until they are ripe, once they are fully ripe put them in the fridge to keep them longer * It is a climacteric fruit which is harvested when it reaches physiological maturity; after being picked from the tree it then continues to ripen until it has reached its optimum point for consumption * Important note: the fruits usually arrive hard; to ripen them, keep them at room temperature until they are ready to eat; if you receive some fruit that is already ripe, you can either eat it straight away or keep it in the fridge This variety is an improvement of the Hass variety, the most valued on the market, which produces fruits of greater calibre and harvested at later dates. The fruit is large (150-350 g), with pebbly skin and an excellent seed/skin/flesh ratio of 15/14/71. The fruit is at its best for eating when its skin is totally black and soft to the touch all over. It completes its ripening once picked (10-20 days later, according to seasons and room temperature). As we don't use any ripening chambers or post-harvest chemical treatments, you can delay the ripening of part of your box by storing the avocados in the fridge and they'll restart the process once they're back at room temperature. Once ripe, the tender and creamy flesh can easily be scooped out with a spoon and will have a cream to yellowish-green colour and a mild flavour reminiscent of hazelnuts and/or walnuts.
