Il progetto

Adopt a peach tree from the farm "Finca Charca El Poleo" in Granja de Torrehermosa (Spagna) and receive your harvest in the form of organic peaches at home. Jose María will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

Cosa adotti?

You adopt a peach tree from our farm in Granja de Torrehermosa (Spagna). Cultivation certified organic by the European Union since 2015. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your peach tree. The *Prunus persica*, more commonly known as the peach tree, is native to China, where references to the fruit date back more than three thousand years. From there, the tree was taken to ancient Persia and adopted its current scientific name. It arrived in the Mediterranean Basin in around 330 BC, when the peach was first grown in Greece, and then spread across the rest of Europe. In the nineteenth century, it became a firm favourite on farms across the Mediterranean and remains so today. This tree is deciduous and small in size, although some varieties can reach six metres in height, with simple leaves featuring bright green fronts. Its pink flowers fill the countryside with colour and aroma, providing an amazing view in the springtime. We grow different varieties of peach in order to adapt to market demand and offer a long season with a staggered harvest. Our varieties yield fruits with a __white pulp__ (Pamela, Blanco, Fresh White, Sweet Reina, Sweet Queen and Gladys) or a __yellow pulp__ (Carla, Crimson Lady, Summer Rich and Ryan Sun), all with a velvety skin and reddish colour, except for the yellow-skinned Federica variety. What's more, as our commitment to the environment entails more than simply gaining certificates, we carry out additional operations beyond the requirements of the regulatory council, such as fostering biodiversity by using mowed plant covers to make mulch and having our own worm composting zone to take advantage of plant waste and fertilise our trees. When we planted the trees, we wanted to focus on two key aspects for us: soil erosion and water optimisation. That's why we planted our trees following the contours of the terrain, thereby avoiding strong water currents that would cause major erosion. If you're interested, you can come visit our farm and observe the distribution of this crop due to contour farming. Your adoption is 6 years old and its productive life is around 25 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your adoption dies, we will replace it with no additional cost assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. Your adoption produces an average of 18kg of organic peaches each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with that amount. This way you will only pay for what you consume and will be able to sell any remaining harvest to others.

Che cosa ricevi?

During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 3 boxes, which can be increased up to 9 boxes according to your needs. Shipping format: __2,2kg box of organic peaches__ * Peaches with velvety red skin and white pulp (from mid-June to the end of July): we grow the varieties Pamela, Blanco, Fresh White, Sweet Reina, Sweet Queen and Gladys * Peaches with velvety red skin and yellow pulp (from early June to late July): we grow the varieties Carla, Crimson Lady, Summer Rich and Ryan Sun * Peaches with velvety yellow skin and yellow pulp (mid-June): we grow the Federica variety * Regardless of the colour of the pulp, all our varieties offer similar organoleptic characteristics, with an aromatically complex pulp alongside a sweet and intense flavour, with a touch of sourness that varies according to the level of ripeness * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2015 * Harvest on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * The box includes some extra fruits, in case some of them arrive damaged * One kilo contains between 6 and 12 fruits (the box contains between 12 and 24 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 7 days in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) * It is a climacteric fruit, harvested when it reaches physiological ripeness but continues to evolve after harvesting until it is ready for consumption * Important: The fruits usually arrive hard, keep them at room temperature until they reach they are ready to eat; if you receive an alread ripe piece, you can put it in the fridge or eat it straight away

Quando lo ricevi?

We normally start the peach harvest in the month of June and continue until August. As each year is different, we'll adapt the delivery dates as best as we can.
