Adopt 3m² of a melon plot from "Finca Ariza" in Caleta de Vélez (Spagna) and receive your Naturland organic melons at home. Jesús will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you have received your Naturland organic melons and enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

Cosa adotti?

You adopt 3m² of a melon plot from our farm in Caleta de Vélez (Spagna). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2011. We grow melons of the Charentais variety. Traditionally grown in France in the Charente region, this is an early harvest melon that adapts very well to the winter planting season in southern Spain, as the temperatures are usually mild, with averages that don't drop below 10ºC at night and very infrequent frosts. We implement organic farming practices on our farm in the village of Algarrobo, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. What's more, our plots are certified by Naturland, a farmers' association created in Germany in the 1980s in order to develop and promote organic farming, and thereby help protect natural resources, biodiversity and the climate. The melon plant, which belongs to the Cucurbits family that also includes pumpkins, courgettes and cucumbers, needs warm temperatures during its life cycle, from germination right through to ripening. As the temperatures are still low in our region at the time of planting, we use low plastic tunnels to cover the plant. We remove them weeks before harvesting, because by then the climate is very conducive to growth. The melon is one of the crops grown on our farm. Depending on the time of year, we rotate our plots to foster nutrient supply, prevent erosion, increase the yield of our land, and reuse crop residue. Your melon plot produces an average of 20kg of Naturland organic melons each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.

You can reserve between 0 and 0 boxes for the season, and then you can plan the delivery of your boxes for any of the delivery dates available in the shipment calendar. Shipping format: __5kg box of Naturland organic melons__ * Charentais (May-June): rounded and green rind with slight grooves; smooth, creamy, sweet and tasty pulp; very characteristic and pleasant aroma * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2011 and Naturland label since 2019 * Harvest on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * 1 piece weighs between 0.6 and 1.2 kg, in the box you'll receive 4 to 7 melons * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last between 7 and 12 days in good condition * If you don't finish all the melons at once, cover to prevent them from drying out and store in the fridge To know when your melon is ripe, several things are important: first, you should feel that it's firm and compact all over, but with a bit of give when gently pressed. It should also feel heavy, which is a sign of the right concentration of sugars. And finally, it should smell a bit more intense, but not too much as this would indicate that it's overripe.
