You adopt 0.6m² of a garlic plot from our farm in Cadeilhan (Francia). The cultivation here has been certified as organic by the European Union as of 2016. White garlic is an annual plant belonging to the *Amaryllidaceae* family. It originated in Mesopotamia and has been cultivated for 5,000 years. The Lomagne region (northern Gers) has long been an ideal region for growing garlic. In fact, white garlic from the Lomagne region was introduced by the Gauls who found the ideal soil and climate for its cultivation on this land. We plant the Messidor variety in November for harvest in June. Garlic is grown in light, well-drained soil. The clay-limestone soils and the climate in Occitania suit it perfectly. The quality of the Lomagne soil and the choice of this variety make it a very fragrant garlic with beautiful, generous cloves. No phytosanitary products are used on our garlic and we do not irrigate; it is picked with harvest equipment, then bundled, hung and left to dry naturally for several weeks (minimum 4 weeks) in the old-fashioned way, on sheltered wind bars. In order to obtain optimal product quality, we select white garlic with a 6 to 8 calibre (60 to 80mm per head), which is why we cultivate Messidor varieties: they are well-adapted to the local Lomagnol terrain and grow to a good size. Each garlic plot produces an average of 1kg of organic white garlic heads per season.
Each season we will send you: __1kg box of organic white garlic heads__ * Messidor: including their tops, these garlic heads are 4-6 cm in size; they have ivory-coloured cloves of generous size with a very fragrant taste and a firm texture * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2016 * It is often best to peel garlic before use; French cuisine features many recipes that use garlic; you should be careful not to overcook the garlic to avoid a pungent taste in your dishes * Shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * White garlic can be stored at room temperature, in the open air, in a dry and dark place until December, then it will begin to germinate; it will still be edible but some people have trouble digesting the germ, so it should simply be removed * For longer storage, you can store garlic previously peeled in a jar of oil or freeze it

Organic garlic is harvested in June. Once the garlic is completely dry, we use some of it to produce our organic black garlic and then we are ready to prepare the white garlic shipments for the end of September.
