Cosa adotti?

You adopt a pistachio tree from our farm in Zamora (Spagna). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2019. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your albero di pistacchio. The "Lost Hills" and "Kerman" varieties of pistachio trees are widely recognized by the size of their fruits, their intense flavour and the whiteness of their shell. The Doña Amor farm was cultivated in two phases. In the first, in 2015, we planted two-year-old trees that were already grafted, while the second planting took place in the summer of 2016 and the trees were grafted in the field. The pistachio, or *Pistacia Vera*, is a very long-lived tree (one hundred to three hundred years), reaching maximum production in the first fifty years. The origin of the pistachio tree is located between Western Asia and Asia Minor. It’s a crop that dates back to ancient times, as it was known to the Egyptians, the Greeks and the Romans. In the first century, it was introduced into Italy from Syria and its cultivation later spread to the other countries in the Mediterranean Basin. At Doña Amor we grow grafts of the Kerman and Lost Hills varieties. The Kerman variety produces a large nut with an excellent quality, good yield and easy detachment from the tree during harvest. Meanwhile, the Lost Hills variety has a similar yield to the Kerman, producing a large, rounded pistachio with a very white shell, with harvest taking place roughly ten days before the Kerman. The productive life of a pistachio tree is around 50 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your albero di pistacchio dies, we will replace it with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. Il tuo albero di pistacchio produce una media di 25kg di originalProduction per ogni stagione. Con questa quantità possiamo produrre circa 1.2 kg di organic pistachios paste and organic roasted pistachios.

Che cosa ricevi?

Each season we will send you a box with: 1 x __Organic pistachio paste__ (200 grams, glass jar) 2 x __Organic roasted pistachios__ (500 grams, cloth bags) __Organic pistachio paste:__ 75% organic pistachio, 25% organic extra virgin olive oil. We make the paste by hand using the best quality pistachios. It's a gluten-free paste, suitable for vegans and without added sugars (all the sweetness is provided by the pistachio itself). It's also an easy-to-spread paste, ideal for breakfast or snacks. We recommend trying it with bread, cheese, jams, salmon, etc. Unleash your creativity and prepare desserts, ice creams or fillings for cakes and panettone. Once open, store in the fridge. __Organic roasted pistachios:__ we select only open pistachios and roast them without adding salt. You can eat pistachios at any time of the day. We recommend them as a snack between meals or as an aperitif before dining, accompanied by a chilled drink, good company and great conversation. Best before date of one year, stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. In summer, it's better to store them in the fridge.

Quando lo ricevi?

We harvest the pistachio at the end of the year and we dispatch them in December. If there's a surplus harvest, we plan more dispatches throughout the year, as long as the product is in perfect condition.
