Adopt a Mushroom block from "Die Edelpilzerei" in Coswig (Germania) and receive your harvest in the form of organic shiitake at home. The Farmer Jonathan will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

Cosa adotti?

Adopt a Mushroom block that we cultivate according to the European Organic Farming Standards (EEC No. 834/2007). We are certified through DE-ÖKO-006 since 2019. During the process of adoption you can choose a name that we will engrave on a plaque and hang on your mushroom block. We reserve an exclusive shelf space in our cultivation room for you, where substrate blocks stand and fresh organic shiitake mushrooms grow. You will get the fresh shiitake carefully harvested in organic packaging delivered directly to your doorstep. The shiitake is a particularly delicate tasting gourmet mushroom with a fragrance slightly reminiscent of garlic and the taste quality umami. In East Asia it is also called the "king of mushrooms" and has been enjoyed for many centuries in the most diverse dishes. The name shiitake is derived from the Japanese words for mushroom (take) and the name of the Pasania tree (shii) on which it grows. The shiitake is therefore also called Pasaniamushroom. The traditional method of cultivating it on dead wood has been refined over time: In the "Edelpilzerei" our shiitakes are cultivated and thrive on so called mushroom blocks. You adopt a shiitake mushroom block, consisting of organic substrate i.e. a hardwood mixture, vegetable additives, water and grain brood. It has been inoculated with mycelium and was able to mature for about 3 months at 25°C, so that the substrate has mycelium growing through it and is just waiting to be fructified in our cultivation areas and produce delicious gourmet shiitakes. At 17°C and a humidity of 98% the manual harvest of a mushroom block is completed after about 2 weeks. In all our deliveries to you, our promise to you is: 1) We love mushrooms! In contrast to conventional cultivation, we offer you shiitake in organoleptic quality, i.e. every mushroom you get has been checked by expert hands before it ends up in your harvest box. 2) We not only love mushrooms, but also feel obliged to our environment. Therefore our production method is sustainable, 100% organic and without additives. The productive life of a Mushroom block is around 3 months, afterwards we replace it by a new one. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. A mushroom block from our farm produce an average of 7 kg each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with the amount you reserve. This way you will only pay for what you consume and we can plan and sell the remaining harvest amount to others.

Che cosa ricevi?

During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. Shipping format: __Organic Shiitake__ (500 g, eco-friendly packaging) The aroma of shiitake is very similar to that of wild mushrooms with a distinct umami note. The smell of shiitake mushrooms is slightly garlic-like. All parts of the shiitake can be used. Due to the natural glutamate it contains, shiitake enhances the taste of other protein-containing foods. They are therefore ideal as a side dish steamed in oil or butter for eggs, meat and poultry, but also refine sauces, ragouts and soups. Wok dishes are also a snap for these delicacies from Asia. On the grill, shiitake is an aromatic and juicy addition or alternative to meat. The possibilities to enjoy shiitake are nearly endless and we are looking forward to see your top favourite recipes and photos! Shiitake can be stored at 2-7°C for about 8-10 days in the refrigerator. The mushrooms should be removed from the PAPERFLOC™ cooling bag and loosely wrapped in paper so that they can "breathe" better. All parts of the shiitake are usable. Due to its hygienic cultivation conditions and the guaranteed organic quality, shiitake mushrooms from the "Edelpilzerei" do not need to be washed. The fresh mushrooms are generally only produced upon order, freshly harvested and shipped cool and shock-protected. This is ensured by a sustainable PAPERFLOC™ cooling bag and, depending on the weather, one or two paper-based cold packs. The cooling bag consists of >95% recycled waste paper (cellulose) and can be disposed of as a whole in the paper waste. The cold packs can be reused if desired or disposed of in the residual waste.

Quando lo ricevi?

Our fine gourmet mushrooms grow all year round in a controlled atmosphere. For shelf space adoption, the shipping season runs from September to April. Within this period you can choose about 2 shipping dates each month. Since we do not keep our mushrooms in stock, but ship them freshly harvested, we need 14 days lead time for an order.
