Adopt vines from our farm in Savennières (Francia). During the process of adoption you can choose a name that we will engrave on a plaque and hang on your vines. We offer you to adopt 3 vines of Chenin on each of our different plots. The Chenin is an emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley which has the ability to retranscribe to the wine the terroir on which it is planted. In Savennières it is the only grape variety authorized in the appellation area where it has been cultivated since the 12th century. Savennières is a micro-appellation area of 140 hectares located southwest of Angers on the right bank of the Loire. The vine grows on a slate spur overlooking the Loire River by about 40 meters. It is a layery rock which facilitates the infiltration of the roots in the soil. Thus, the slatestone will bring minerality and tension to our wines and give them a high potential of maturing. The vineyard is cultivated with respect for the environment, our farm has been certified High Environmental Value since 2018. The vines are grassed every other row in order to favour the microbiological fauna of the soil. We only intervene in the vineyard when necessary in order to limit the inputs as much as possible during the vegetative cycle. The harvest, which takes place during the month of September, is 100% manual and requires the help of about ten workers. Sorting is done on the vine and we have to pass through each plot several times during the period to pick the grapes with the best maturity. One vine produces about four to six bunches of grapes, which represents about one bottle of wine per vine. The productive life of vines is around 45 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your vines die, we will replace them with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from others.
Each season we will send you a box with: 1 x __white wine Le Parc 2020 AOC Savennières__ (0.75l, glass bottle) 1 x __white wine La Croix Picot 2020 AOC Savennières__ (0.75l, glass bottle) 1 x __white wine Comtesse de Las Cases 2019 AOC Savennières__ (0.75l, glass bottle) Le Parc, is a cuvée coming from a vineyard plot adjoining the property on a high hillside with a North/South exposure. The wine is aged for nine months in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruitiness of the Chenin and the minerality brought by the slatestones. It is the perfect wine to discover the appellation. This wine should be drunk young, in the first five years to appreciate its fruity and fresh profile. It will be perfect as an aperitif, with seafood, white meat and grilled fish as well as with hard cheeses. La Croix Picot, is a plot of land located in the North of the appellation on the South/South-East hillsides overlooking the Loire River. The vines benefit from an excellent luminosity due to the reflection of the sun in the Loire River. The grapes are rich, concentrated and keep a very nice freshness. The wine is then matured in young oak barrels aged from one to 20 years for nine months. The wine then takes lightly woody, vanilla notes while preserving the backbone of Savennières. The quality of the grapes as well as the maturing in barrels allow to increase the ageing potential of this wine to about ten years according to one's preferences. Young it will be fruity and fresh, as it ages it will lose the fruitiness to gain in minerality and the freshness will fade for more complexity. It will perfectly accompany your dishes with sauce or your winter dishes with cheese and cold meats such as raclette, fondue or tartiflette. Comtesse de Las Cases is the name of the former owner of Château d'Epiré, before it became the family property in 1882. This semi-dry wine is reminiscent of what Savennières used to be before it became a dry wine as we know it today. The sweet taste is smooth and very appealing, it quickly fades away thanks to the freshness brought by the slatestone, which makes the wine very pleasant and easy to drink. The sweetness of the wine, its freshness and its maturing allow it to keep for about ten years without any problem. As it ages, the sweetness will fade and the wine will be more aromatic and complex. It is very pleasant to drink it as an aperitif, with Asian and spicy food as well as with blue-veined cheeses. Wine ageing is above all a personal matter. It should not be forgotten that we make wines to be drunk and not to be forgotten in a cellar. The most important thing above all is to identify your tastes before storing a wine. This is the first and most important factor when it comes to wine storage. If you like fresh, fruity wines, drink them young. If, on the contrary, you like them with more tertiary aromas, then go ahead and don't hesitate to preserve your bottle in your cellar. Obviously while respecting optimal storage conditions (away from light, at stable temperature and humidity). This wine was officially tasted by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming. Quando lo ricevi?
You may select the delivery date of your box as suggested by the Farmer at check-out. The grapes are harvested in September and matured until June when they are bottled. We then let the wine rest and finish maturing for a minimum of one year. We therefore offer you to receive wines from grapes harvested two years ago. The delivery is made during Christmas time, which is a particularly favourable period for the consumption of Savennières wine.
