Il progetto

Adopt vines from the farm "Bodega Mustiguillo" in Utiel (Spagna) and receive your harvest in the form of organic red wine La Garnacha de Mustiguillo DOP El Terrerazo at home. The Farmer Antonio will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption. This wine was tasted by a group of independent, professional wine tasters that collaborate with CrowdFarming, and it received a score of 91out of a possible 100.

Cosa adotti?

Adopt vines that we cultivate under the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union since 2007. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your vines. The Garnacha project came up about almost at the same time as Mustiguillo did. At the end of the 1980s, my father and I decided to plant Garnacha grapes in El Terrerazo, with vine shoots from old vines from the region that were going to be uprooted. At that time, we still weren't making wine and the estate's production was being sold to the cooperative. Over the years, this plot fell by the wayside and our focus was taken over by the Bobal grape, until we had a bad year in 2008 and the Garnacha grape reappeared. We decided to partially introduce it into other wines. Our Garnacha from the highland plain is a survivor. Surrounded by Bobal grapes and planted on strictly non-irrigated land, it has a very special character and elegance. That was when our interest was aroused in making a wine solely from that plot, with local bush-trained Garnacha from our poorest non-irrigated soils. And then it seemed that it had come of age so we could proclaim to the world that the grape was good enough to set off on a solo journey. The tests began the following year, in open barrels, with and without the stem, in the old-fashioned way, looking for the best time to harvest, in new barrels, in old barrels, in vats, in concrete, etc. And after five years of really enjoyable research, with such a cool variety as Garnacha, we decided to launch it on the market. We strive every day to achieve unique wines that reflect the expression and essences of El Terrerazo. Wines that mature well over time and showcase all the virtues of the grape: its colour and its great natural acidity. What's more, all our wines have the organic certification and are produced with our own grapes. The productive life of vines is around 100 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your vines die, we will replace them with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from others.

Che cosa ricevi?

Each season we will send you a box with: 6 x __Organic La Garnacha de Mustiguillo red wine__ (botella de 75 cl) We'll send a box with six bottles of La Garnacha de Mustiguillo wine. It's a wine with a vibrant cherry red colour. Delicate attack with finesse. Elegant and fresh thanks to its acidity. Aromas of red fruit and floral notes. It combines perfectly with meat-based rice dishes with vegetables or stews. Its acidity accentuates dishes such as chickpea stews, potatoes or meats such as lamb. It also goes well with oily fish. This wine can be savoured now or over the next five years. __Here are some tips to keep the wine in the best condition possible:__ * Store the bottles horizontally whenever possible to stop the wine from being in permanent contact with the cork, while also keeping it moistened and well-sealed. * Find a place that has a relatively stable temperature. Sudden changes in temperature can cause variations in the diameter of the neck of the bottle, due to the contraction or expansion of the glass, as well as variations in the volume of the wine that end up causing liquid to seep through the cork. This doesn’t automatically mean that the wine has gone off, but it may be the beginning of premature oxidation. * Vibrations, loud noises and strong smells are enemies of wine. That's why the kitchen tends not to be the best place to keep bottles of wine, as they also have to withstand high temperatures and smoke. * Do not expose your bottles to direct light, neither natural nor artificial. Protecting wine from UV rays is the main reason why most wineries use tinted glass bottles. Manual harvest. Cold maceration on top of harvest boxes. Double sorting table followed by de-stemming of bunches and gentle crushing. Fermented in 80 hl oak vats with 20% of the grape stem added gradually in fine layers for ten days working only with punching down. Post-fermentation maceration for an additional eight days and manual emptying by gravity using only free run wine. Aged for ten months in French oak barrels. To obtain the technical data and the detailed results of the official tasting done by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming of this wine you can download the technical data sheet that you can find in the "Additional analyses" section.
