Adopt a blueberry bush from the "Biohof Wencker" farm in Voltlage (Germania) and receive your Bioland organic blueberries at home. Uwe will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a blueberry bush from our farm in Voltlage (Germania). The cultivation has been certified as organic by the European Union and as Bioland as of 2021. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your blueberry bush. This blueberry bush, sometimes called dwarf bush, is about 60cm high, grows quite high and straight, and delivers about 4 kg of blueberries every season. Blueberries (Latin name: "*Vaccinium corymbosumis*") are a species of bush native to the northern hemisphere, growing in temperate oceanic or continental climates. You may have been lucky enough to pick wild blueberries in a forest; unfortunately, they are becoming increasingly rare. Like the wild variety, blueberries are rich in anthocyanin which gives the berry its blue colour and is an antioxidant. In addition, they contain hardly any calories. We grow different varieties so we can supply you with our delicious blueberries from June to August. The varieties are Duke, Draper and Liberty. The blueberry harvest begins at the end of June with the Duke variety and ends in mid-September with Liberty. Our family business has been in existence since 1954. In 2018, we converted our entire business to organic. Your adoption is 20 years old and its maximum lifespan is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your blueberry bush produces an average of 6kg of Bioland organic blueberries each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
You can reserve between 1 and 4 boxes for the season, and then plan the deliveries for any of the delivery dates available in the shipment calendar. Shipping format: __2 kg box Bioland organic blueberries__ (loose in 2 smaller cardboard boxes) * Duke, Draper, Liberty: Bright blue, sweet smelling, crisp bite * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label and adhering to the Bioland regulations since 2021 * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * Super tasty…whether on their own, in cereals, yoghurt or dessert, as smoothies or in pancakes, blueberries are so versatile! * Our shrubs are not a screw factory: each berry is unique in appearance and size * Blueberries are a delicate fruit that are susceptible at room temperature: therefore, always keep them in the refrigerator (between 5 and 8 °C) to prevent them from becoming bad and soft. If you do, they keep for about 1 week * You can eat them all straight away, use them in recipes or they freeze very well *Should I wash them before eating? * As the blueberries are grown organically, you do not necessarily need to wash them before consumption. In particular, when you freeze the blueberries, they should be dry! The whitish film you see on the blueberry is the so-called "__fragrance film__". This is a wafer-thin, natural wax layer produced by the plant. As such, it is a sign of quality since it shows that the blueberry was picked, stored and packaged particularly gently. This does not need to be removed under any circumstances.
