Adopt an apple tree from the "Biohof Voreifel" farm in Meckenheim (Germania) and receive your Bioland organic Elise apples at home. Ann-Christin will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt an apple tree from our farm in Meckenheim (Germania). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2019. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your apple tree. You are adopting an apple tree (*Malus domestica*) of the Elise variety. Apple trees belong to the rose family (Rosacea) and can either grow large and round - in which case it is difficult to reach all the apples - or, like ours, they can grow in an espalier. This allows me, as a fruit grower, to keep an eye on all the fruit and also to give each apple enough fresh air and sunlight. First cultivated in 1972, it remained relatively unknown until it was rediscovered in 1995 and achieved its breakthrough. In the Netherlands, the Cox Orange variety was crossed with another unknown variety, resulting in the Elise variety. It is also known under the names Roblos or Red Delight. The Elise tree needs nutrient-rich soil, which should not be too heavy and wet. If these conditions are met, the tree shows good disease resistance. Here and there it can come to problems with bitter pit ('Stippe'), which expresses a deficiency in the apples and can be recognised by spots on the skin. Your adoption is 2 year old and its maximum lifespan is 20 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. An adult apple tree produces an average of 10kg of Bioland organic Elise apples each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __2.5kg box of Bioland organic apples__ * The taste of the Elise variety is comparable to that of an Elstar: crunchy, sweet and sour, also suitable for many apple allergy sufferers * You can eat Elise fresh or in an apple pie or apple sauce, if you really want to use it completely, you can make dark red apple jelly from the Elise because of its wonderful red skin - It will be delicious! * Organic farming, certified with the EU organic seal and the Bioland seal since 2019 * Unlike other fruits, apples cannot be harvested gradually, but must be picked in a short period of time when they have reached full ripeness; to avoid food waste and ensure the economic stability of farmers, they are first shipped fresh from the tree and later stored in a cool place, but never longer than the current season (maximum 12 weeks) * You receive our apples without waxes and preservatives on the skin, shipped in a plastic-free cardboard box * Our trees are not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in size and appearance * One kilo contains between 4-8 fruits * If you do not want to eat your apples right away, it is best to store them in the dark with high humidity and temperatures of about 0 to 5°C
Quando lo ricevi?
We start the Elise harvest later than other varieties. You can look forward to our Elise apples from the beginning of October - of course, this varies somewhat from year to year due to weather conditions. Until January, we ship our stored Elise apples directly from the farm to you.
