Adopt a beehive from the apiary "Bienenhilfe" in Much (Germania) and receive your organic honey wine at home. Björn will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. As the production coming from one beehive is big, the adoption is shared among various people. If you wish to have a bigger share, you may adopt more than once. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a beehive from our apiary in Much (Germania). The apiculture here is certified as organic by the European Union since 2019. Each colony has a very special name: one of a wild bee or a bee plant. This is our way of expressing our special relationship with the protection of wild bees. In summer, a colony consists of about 40,000 bees (that's about 5,000 honey bees per adoption). Living in a wooden house is something special for many people - for the honey bees that live with us, it is a reality: each colony has its own wooden house, the so-called bee hive. We use pine wood, which comes from local forestry. Plastics are not used and the protective glaze for the exterior coating is wax-based. With the "Zander hives" we use, we ensure that the bees can raise their brood undisturbed, as we can set up the honey room. In our area many beekeepers rely on plastic hives (e.g. Segeberger hives), these are not an option for us. Our bees do not belong to any particular breed, the only thing that is important to us is that the colonies can look after themselves well and are peaceful. Therefore we use a mixture of different bee breeds (*Apis mellifera carnica, Apis mellifera ligustica, Buckfast*). Our bees are not fed. Our bees reproduce by natural swarming and by small brood comb. Queens accompany their colony throughout their life. If a queen is needed, the bees form a queen cell from which a young queen hatches after 16 days. The drones live for a summer, workers only a few weeks in summer and several months in winter, queens for about 4-5 years. A colony is immortal and renews itself again and again. Your adoption is 9 years old and its productive life is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops being able to produce for any reason, we will replace it with an other, and we guarantee your delivery from the produce of others for that season. Your beehive produces an average of 30kg of organic honey each season. With this amount we can produce around 90l of organic honey wine. 26 CrowdFarmers will share the adoption, and each one will receive a box containing 3l of organic honey wine.
Each season we will send you a box with: 6 x __organic honey wine__ (0.5l, glass bottle with screw cap) Only organic honey, fresh water and organic yeast are used for our organic honey wine. Fermentation results in a delicious wine made from honey, which can be enjoyed slightly chilled (7°C) as an aperitif or heated as an excellent alternative to mulled wine. We pay attention to a relatively dry-balanced development - for this reason we do not use any sulphites or fining agents. Our honey wine is suitable for vegetarians. The composition and quality of both our organic honey wine and organic honey are tested in external laboratories and as part of the documentation for organic certification. Depending on the region, honey wine is called honey mead or mead, these names are synonymous and stand equally for honey wine. The basis for our honey wine is the annual spring honey of our bees. This is not filled into jars, but used exclusively for the production of honey wine. We have decided against corks and in favour of screw caps for reasons of reusability. Our bottles have a screw cap and are reusable. You can remove the labels with cooking oil without leaving any residue. We use potato starch based glue for our recycled paper labels. Our honey wine has a practically unlimited shelf life and can be stored well. However, you should not miss out on the pleasure for too long. Keep it dry and cool.
Quando lo ricevi?
We make our honey wine all year round from the honey we harvest in spring. We can then ship it in autumn, at Christmas and at Easter.
