Adopt a pear tree from the "Obsthof Rönn" farm in Meckenheim (Allemagne) and receive your colourful multi-fruit juices at home. Michael will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a pear tree from our farm in Meckenheim (Allemagne). The cultivation here has been certified as organic by the European Union and following the Bioland guidelines as of 2019. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your pear tree. The pear trees grow in a pear orchard, which we planted 30 years ago. There is a reason that it is said that one should inherit pears instead of planting them. They are representative of all our other trees: the cherry trees, apple trees, currant bushes, and the pear trees of other varieties whose fruit we harvest for your colourful juice box. Like the apple, the pear - *Pyrus communis* - belongs to the rose family (*Rosaceae*). It is virtually the sister of the apple with a different shape. Even if the pear is not grown in such overwhelming quantities as apples, strawberries or bananas, it is still very popular. Its history goes back a long way. For example, it was already mentioned by the ancient Greeks. Originally from the Middle East, it evolved from various wild species. How it got to Europe is not known exactly. Today's cultivated pear (*Pyrus communis*) can be seen as a very different deciduous tree. Shortly after harvest, the tree loses its leaves for the winter. The growth, form and height depends on the variety and the cut. A tree can grow up to 20 meters high. On our plots we keep the trees at a maximum height of 3 meters so that they can be harvested more easily. For this purpose, the trees are regularly pruned in winter and sometimes also in summer. By the way, the flowers of pears, which often appear before the leaves, are much less popular among bees than apple blossoms. Therefore, with pears it is especially important to maintain a high population of wild bees, because they fly shorter distances and are not quite as picky as honeybees. The Alexander Lucas variety originated in France and was first cultivated there in 1874. It is well suited for cultivation as it is very robust and not very susceptible to diseases. It has a very firm flesh when harvested, which makes it particularly suitable for lovers of firm, crunchy pears. Through storage, however, it later becomes delicately tender and sweet. Well ripened, it is our favorite for a great pear jam. In addition to Alexander Lucas pears, the pear varieties Vereins-Dechant pear, Tongern, Conference and Williams Christ also cultivated on the same plot. We deliver the fruit we have picked by hand to a colleague who then processes it into juice for us. He also makes sure that only our own fruit ends up in the juice - except for our Ritterpunsch, where we add some additionally purchased organic orange juice. Since our sour cherries were still in the process of conversion to organic farming until this summer, the apple-cherry juice has not yet been certified as organic. Since one component (the cherry juice) is not yet a recognised organic product, the mixed juice may also not be labelled as an organic product (not until 2023). Of course, however, all fruits are produced according to the guidelines of organic farming of the EU. Your adoption is 30 years old and its maximum lifespan is 50 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Sustainable cultivation is particularly important to us in our work. In 2019, we were even awarded the Ludwig Company Award in the Sustainability category. Your adoption produces an average of 45kg of mixed fruit each season. With this amount we can produce around 35l of colourful multi-fruit juices. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 boxes. Once you paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. By the way, the Tomberger knight's punch is our local product, since the apples for it grow directly at the foot of the Tomburg castle ruins. Valid for all juices: Our juice is not filtered or clarified and thus is naturally cloudy. This can cause turbidity to settle to the bottom of the bottle when stored upright. For optimal enjoyment, you should therefore shake the bottle before opening. However, due to the high quality of the fruit, the varietal composition and the bottling process, it often looks almost clear. To preserve the quality, the juice should not be stored above room temperature or below zero. Please store the bottle in the refrigerator after opening and drink it within the next two days. Unopened, it can be kept for at least 1 year.
Quand le recevez-vous?
We harvest the fruit for our juices from the end of June to mid-November. The currants from the end of June to the end of July, the sour cherries from the middle to the end of July, the pears from the end of August to the end of September, and the apples from the middle of July to the middle of November. When we are done with the harvest, we take everything to the juice making facility and have our juice bottled. Then we start shipping the fresh juice boxes of the season. However, since we can store the juice very well, we offer you shipping dates until next summer.
