Adopt an apple tree from the "Bio-Obsthof Lefers" farm in Jork (Allemagne) and receive your Demeter organic "Red Prince" apples at home. Cord will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt an apple tree from our farm in Jork (Allemagne). The cultivation is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2017, and as Demeter as of 2017. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your apple tree. We are growing 25 different apple varieties on our farm in the “Alte Land” region, but also stone fruits such as plums and cherries, pears and even pumpkins. A colourful mix. In this project we invite you to adopt an apple tree of the “Red Prince” variety. The apple (*Malus domestica*) is the European’s favourite fruit. We can probably find its origin of the domesticated apple in Asia and the Caucasian. A wild form of the apple has been cultivated there thousands of years ago already, and was probably brought towards Europe via traffic routes. The Prince brothers discovered the variety “Red Prince” in the Netherlands; it was the result of a spontaneous mutation. Its bright red colour and the crispy sweet flavour convinced the two brothers and they registered the variety officially in 1994. This variety adapts really well in our maritime climate and develops a great spectrum of flavours. What is so special about our farm? Your apple tree grows in the middle of the idyllic fruit growing region "Altes Land": In the primordial valley of the Elbe river the rich, heavy and moist soil and the north sea climate help your tree to grow. We are located in one of the oldest fruit growing regions in Germany. Our family farm can proudly look back on 250 years of history, and we hope that our future will be just as “fertile”. Your adoption is 10 years old and its maximum lifespan is 20 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your apple tree produces an average of 28kg of Demeter organic "Red Prince" apples each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: 4kg box __Demeter organic "Red Prince" apples__ * Red Prince: bright red, fruity taste, impressively sweet and crunchy * “Red Prince” is the perfect family apple: with its fruity sweetness inviting you to bite right into it, especially popular with children! * Biodynamic farming certified with by the European Organic Farming and the Demeter label since 2017 * Contrary to other fruits, apples cannot be harvested gradually and need to be harvested in a short period when having reached their full maturity; in order to avoid food waste and to ensure farmer’s economic stability, they are first picked fresh from the tree and later kept in cold storage, never longer than the current season (maximum of 12 weeks storage) * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 4 and 7 fruits * Apples taste best at room temperature * The best place to store is in the fridge (up to 3 weeks) or in as cool a place as possible, they will keep very well for several weeks; our suggestion is always to move the apples from the fridge to the fruit bowl for the following day
