¿Qué adoptas?

You adopt 3 vines from our farm in Orange (Francia). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union since 2011. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your vines. The Grenache variety has been widely developed all around the Mediterranean basin. It grows well in all types of soils and its excellent heat resistance has made it the star grape variety of the southern Côtes du Rhône appellation. Present in most of our blends, it gives red wines full-bodiedness and character, as well as a vast aromatic palette of red and black berries. The grapes are harvested during the month of September and vinified, plot by plot, in our cellars. We cultivate 35 hectares of Côtes du Rhône appellation organically. The location, classified as Côtes du Rhône, is located on the northern edge of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. A simple little gravel path was designated as the limit of the appellation in 1936! With such a name for the place, this land was pre-destined for the cultivation of vines: "Les Champs-aux-vins" (the wine fields), because of the plots covered by the famously rolled pebbles. The subsoil contains a nice thick level of red clay, which retains moisture and requires drip irrigation only in very severe drought years like 2003, 2009, 2017 or 2019. The Grenache vines are sometimes pruned with rope trellising or without wires, in a type of goblet-shaped vine like a small shrub. To be of high quality, we estimate that you should never exceed 9-10 bunches of grapes per vine or just under 38 hectolitres per hectare. Our wines often receive acknowledgements from the international press (Parker, Dunnuck, Decanter, etc.) and the Hachette Wine Guide. Your adoption is 45 years old and its productive life is 85 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops being able to produce for any reason, we will replace it with an other, and we guarantee your delivery from the produce of others for that season. Your vines produce an average of 4kg of organic grapes each season. With this amount we can produce around 2.25l of organic red wine Les Champauvins AOC Côtes du Rhône.

¿Qué recibes?

Each season we will send you a box with: 3 x __Organic red wine Les Champauvins 2020 AOC Côtes du Rhône__ (0.75l, bottle) The wine delivers an explosion of ripe fruit and a full-bodied flavour, brought by the Grenache present at a level of 70%. This wine is made from 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Serve at a temperature of 17°C. The grapes are harvested and cooled to 20°C upon arrival in the cellar. Then, they are vinified in stainless steel vats with the temperature blocked at 28°C. We let the skins and the juice macerate for 2 days before the start of fermentation and then only intervene with 1 or 2 daily punch-downs. After 15 days of fermentation, the grapes are removed in the pneumatic press to extract the juice gently. Everything is placed in concrete vats for the malolactic fermentation phase and then the ageing of the Grenaches, which will last about 14 months. A few hectolitres of Syrah and Mourvèdre will be aged in oak barrels to broaden the aromatic spectrum. We are in favour of low wine filtration, to preserve their quality. It is ideal for consumption from 6 months after bottling at a temperature of 17°C. It goes well with terrines, cold meats or fine grilled meats. Corking with a purified cork stopper guarantees perfect aromatic expression and good conservation. It is ideal for consumption from 6 months of bottling. A vintage to drink up to 6-8 years after bottling. This wine from the edge of the Châteauneuf appellation is often rewarded in media, such as Parker (91/100) or the Hachette Guide (2 stars). It was nicknamed the "baby-Châteauneuf" - a great compliment considering its selling price. To obtain the technical data and the detailed results of the official tasting done by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming of this wine you can download the technical data sheet that you can find in the "Additional analyses" section. Given that the wines are analysed as they are bottled, bear in mind that the technical data sheet may correspond to the vintage of the previous year and not to the wine you will receive.

¿Cuándo lo recibes?

The grape harvest starts in September with the earliest varieties, often young plots of Syrah and Grenache. The older vines quickly reach maturity and then the Mourvèdre skins take on their intense black colour around the beginning of October. The shipment of the boxes is planned for the beginning of December.
