Adopt a goat from the flock of "Hofgemeinschaft Ulmenhof" in Sarmersbach (Alemania) and receive your Bioland organic goat cheese at home. Michael will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. As the production coming from one goat is big, the adoption is shared among various people. If you wish to have a bigger share, you may adopt more than once. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

¿Qué adoptas?

You adopt a goat from our farm in Sarmersbach (Alemania). The livestock farming and the produce have both been certified as organic by the European Union and has been following the Bioland standards since 1990. The Ulmenhof in addition to dairy cows and chickens also keeps about 100 dairy goats of the breeds ”Bunte Deutsche Edelziege“ and ”Thüringer Waldziege“. The ”Thüringer Waldziege“ is a native goat breed, which is one of the endangered livestock breeds. In addition to their pretty looks, ”Thüringer Waldziegen“ impress with their particularly tasty milk and good mothering qualities. This means they take good care of their lambs. In the past, the Bunte Deutsche Edelziege was considered to be more efficient than, for example, the ”Thüringer Waldziege“. Through good breeding work, the differences are now rather small. Both breeds are considered to be more robust breeds. They are ideally suited for grazing in the middle mountain range such as here in the Eifel, because the climate here is often a bit harsher, so we have to keep breeds that hold up in wind and weather. We have been farming Bioland for over 30 years. Our goats live in a wooden stable newly built in 2020, which has been built according to the highest animal welfare standards. The goats live together in groups of 16 to 32 animals. In addition to the outdoor areas that can be reached at any time, they also have climbing opportunities in the stable. During the growing season from mid-April to early November, they have daily grazing. The feed for our animals comes mostly from our farm. They receive hay, beets and oats. When milking, they also receive some milk yield and mineral organic supplement. Of course it is 100% organic quality. Our goats are fed from our own fields, so our climate balance is positive. We use our permanent grassland that binds large amounts of CO². We cultivate 70 hectares of meadows, pastures and fields. Only in particularly dry years we have to buy hay from colleagues also with an organic certificate. The goats can live for up to 8 years. The selling of goat lambs is difficult. We only let a part of our herd become pregnant. The other part we milk for up to 3 years continuously. And then we switch the groups so we can produce goat cheese all year and reduce the number of lambs that have to be slaughtered. Basically we keep all animals that are born on our farm. Either for breeding, or for fattening. No lamb is sold to a cattle dealer or fattener. Since this year, the goat lambs have been staying with their mothers and growing up in the herd. As they get older, they have their own area in the mothers' stable where they wait while the mothers are on the pasture during the day. Before and after grazing, they can go to their mothers to drink. This way, we can raise our lambs in a species-appropriate manner. All lambs stay with their mothers as long as they need milk - at least 3 months. Afterwards they are raised in small groups. All lambs that are not kept for breeding as well as dairy goats which leave the farm are slaughtered in the region at a family-run butcher. We take care of the transport ourselves and are also involved in the slaughter. This way, we can avoid unnecessary stress for our animals. The butcher is certified through a subcontractor contract with us for the processing of organic meat. We sell the meat and sausages of our lambs directly from our farm shop. Our flock has an average age of 4 years and the maximum lifespan of a goat is about 10 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and we guarantee your delivery from the production of other units. Your adoption produces an average of 600l of goat milk each season. With this amount we can produce around 60kg of Bioland organic goat cheese. 65 CrowdFarmers will share the adoption, and each one will receive a box containing 1kg of Bioland organic goat cheese.

¿Qué recibes?

Each season we will send you a box with: 1 x __Ziccorino goat cheese natural__ (500g, vacuum packed) 1 x __Ziccorino goat cheese rosemary__ (500g, vacuum packed) Our Ziccorino, aged for at least 4 months, is a cheese made from 100% raw goat's milk. It has a smooth, light golden waxed rind. Inside it is ivory coloured with a fine, small perforation. Its consistency is firm, yet supple. The taste is slightly nutty and finely aromatic. Our version with rosemary, which of course comes from controlled organic cultivation, has a pleasant fresh flavour. The rosemary is lightly distributed in the cheese. The fact that our Ziccorino is waxed allows it to ripen on its own, giving it its delicate aroma. It is turned daily at the beginning and during the first ripening period the rind is coated twice with food-grade wax. The milk for the Ziccorino is freshly processed every morning immediately after milking. So we can only produce up to 8 cheeses a day. The production as well as the care during maturation is still real manual work. Each cheese is made by our cheesemakers with love and experience and is unique in its own way. Try our Ziccorino with a fresh white wine, it is excellent for grating pasta or risotto. Refrigerated, packed in our cheese paper (supplied), it can be kept for at least 4 weeks.

¿Cuándo lo recibes?

We produce the Ziccorino during the grazing season (end of April to end of October) from pure goat's milk. It matures over late summer and can be sent to you in autumn (early November).
