¿Qué adoptas?

You adopt vines from our farm in Vouvray (Francia) that we cultivate following the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union. We are already in the process of converting and expect to be officially certified by 2023. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your vines. Chenin Blanc, or Pineau de la Loire, is the emblematic white variety of the Vouvray appellation. Originally from the Loire Valley, it is still ubiquitous in its region of origin, from Anjou to Touraine. This grape variety appreciates clay-limestone soils, otherwise called tuffeau stones, which were used to build the Loire castles. The climate of the plateaus and cliffs, created by the river valley of the Loire over time, offers important advantages to the maturation of the grapes due to the exposure of the crop to the attenuated winds of the South. The vineyard of Vouvray dates back to the time of the monks of the monastery of Marmoutier founded in 372 by Saint Martin. At the beginning of the 13th century, white varieties were reserved for plots located on the hillsides and edges of the plateau with clay-limestone soils. Interestingly, part of the Vouvray wine-growing region belonged to the kings of France during the 14th century. The latter also served these wines at their table. It was in 1880 that Albert Fleury of the "Maison Fleury" deposited the trademark of the first sparkling Vouvray, the Vouvray Monopole, at the Chamber of Commerce of Tours. In 1936, the wines of Vouvray obtained 'appellation contrôlée' status, the famous Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) - an equivalent to the Protected designation of origin (PDO). The appellation area is then limited to 8 villages of which Sainte Radegonde, currently a suburb of Tours, is a part. Domaine du Clos de l'Epinay is a family vineyard of 20 ha located on the main plateau of Vouvray. Committed to responsible viticulture, Domaine du Clos de l'Epinay joined the national federation Terra Vitis in 2013. Since 2018, Domaine du Clos de l'Epinay has also acquired the High Environmental Value (HEV) certification. HEV recognises farmers' commitment to agro-ecological practices but also to meeting citizens' and consumers' expectations of sustainability. Obtaining the Vouvray appellation implies that the watering of the vines is prohibited. Only vines younger than three years can be watered. The vine therefore adapts to the rainfall of the plateau, which is what makes each vintage of Vouvray so different and special. The pruning used is the trained goblet (short size) which makes it possible to have a yield of 52 hl/ha for still wines and 65 hl/ha for traditional wines. Your adoption is 6 years old and its maximum lifespan is 70 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Four of the vintages offered on CrowdFarming were distinguished during the tasting for the Gilbert & Gaillard Guide: the PDO Vouvray vintage 2016 dry and semi-dry still wines and the PDO Vouvray vintage 2018 natural classic each received a gold medal, while the 2016 Cuvée Marcus obtained a 90 + rating in 2022. Your adoption produces an average of 4.5kg of grapes each season. With this amount we can produce around 4.5l of white wines PDO Vouvray.

Each season we will send you a box with: 2 x __Dry white wine PDO Vouvray 2016__ (0.75l each, bottle) 2 x __Semi-dry white wine PDO Vouvray 2016__ (0.75l each, bottle) 2 x __Dry white wine "Cuvée Marcus" PDO Vouvray 2016__ (0.75l each, bottle) The still PDO Vouvray wines come from our oldest vines. We make a selection of the best maturity of our bunches to make our wines with different sugar intensities. Vinification takes place in a stainless steel tank, thermoregulated to 17°C to ensure a slow fermentation that is more conducive to the development of complex flavours. The wine is then matured on fine lees for several months. It is bottled the following spring. __The dry white wine PDO Vouvray __is made of 100% Chenin Blanc. Pale straw yellow with good aromatic intensity. Its aromas reveal notes of white fruit (pear, flat peach), aromatic herbs (mint, anise) and a mineral background. The palate is sweet and tangy with remarkable intensity. This dry white wine goes very well with fish and seafood. __The semi-dry white wine PDO Vouvray__ is made of 100% Chenin Blanc. Pale straw yellow in colour and luminous. It reveals notes of fruits (citrus) and aromatic herbs (basil) on a mineral background. The palate is sweet and gourmet with fruity notes (pineapple, apple, coconut). This semi-dry white wine goes very well with white meats in sauce (roasted chicken, veal cutlet with cream), fish in sauce (salmon with a sorrel sauce, etc.) and with cheese. __The dry white wine "Cuvée Marcus" PDO Vouvray __ is made of 100% Chenin Blanc. It is pale and sparkling straw yellow in colour. Once aerated, it reveals floral and fruity notes. The palate is sweet and sugary with a light body, hints of honey, yellow fruits and quince jam notes of residual sugar. The Cuvée Marcus goes well with sweet-savoury dishes (tagine with quince), spicy dishes (monkfish or lamb curry) and cheese. The stoppers are made of cork for the traditional way. Traditional wines can be kept for up to 10 years or more depending on the cellar. For storage, horizontal storage is preferable in a room where the temperature varies little over time. This wine was officially tasted by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming.
