Adopt an apple tree from the farm "Azienda Agricola Tetto Bernardo" in Cuneo (Italia) and receive your organic apples at home. Giovanni will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt an apple tree from our farm in Cuneo (Italia). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 1997. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your apple tree. This variety belongs to the Rosaceae. Agronomically, the apple tree is classified as a Pomaceae. This technical term is used for all trees that produce spherical fruit. In nature the apple tree varies between 3.5 and 10 metres in height, but when cultivated it rarely exceeds 3-4 metres. Height is a very important factor to take into account, especially when harvesting by hand. The bearing of apple trees can be columnar, expanded, or pendulous. At our farm we use the columnar habit, this describes a strong central rootstock from which thinner secondary branches originate, and these branches carry the flower and consequently the fruit. As well as the Inored variety we also grow the Royal Gala, these two are the "diamond" products that we grow on our farm. The columnar habit is managed and maintained during pruning by our highly skilled farm workers. The apple tree has a trunk with a grey, very wrinkled bark. The branches, on the other hand, are reddish-brown with a smooth surface. The leaves of the tree are oval and deep green in colour. The leaf shape and margins are important for recognising the variety. The apple tree is one of the oldest fruit species with roots in ancient and popular traditions. There are historical sources attesting to cultivation as far back as the Roman Empire. The apple tree is a hardy tree that adapts very well to almost all Italian microclimates, but it is at its best in hilly and mountainous areas as it is a species that can withstand low temperatures. In winter, the plant can withstand temperatures as low as 0°C and, thanks to its late blossoming, does not suffer from spring frosts. Our apple orchards extend for about 70 hectares and are cultivated in an open and ventilated area. These two characteristics allow us not to have water stagnation that could be potentially dangerous for our cultivation. It also means that the soil is almost always dry, which helps prevent attacks from fungal diseases and pathogens. Our apple orchards all have a southern exposure and are planted in permeable, medium-textured soil that is not too deep. Our farm is located in the central part of northern Italy. We use hail nets to protect our plants from stormy weather and any debris that could damage the fruits. Your adoption is 6 years old and its maximum lifespan is 20 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your apple tree produces an average of 30kg of organic apples each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 0 boxes. Once you paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account.
