You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

¿Qué adoptas?

You adopt a mandarin tree from our farm in Corigliano Calabro (Italia). The cultivation here has been certified as organic by the European Union since 1992. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your mandarin tree. The Satsuma Miyagawa is a citrus fruit that originated in China and Japan. It is believed that a group of Jesuits gathered the plants precisely in Japan in the 18th century and brought them to the USA, where they started growing them. In Europe, it has only been around for about ten years and is mainly cultivated in Spain and Italy. It belongs to the same family as the citrus fruits (Rutaceae) and is a cross between a grapefruit and a clementine. The plant is very similar to the mandarin tree, with an elongated shape, short stature, dense foliage and high productivity. The plant is excellent for growing in areas with little rainfall, as it does not require large amounts of water. It can also resist insect or fungal attack very well, which facilitates cultivation in organic farming. Your adoption is 10 years old and its maximum lifespan is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your mandarin tree produces an average of 42kg of organic Satsuma mandarins each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.

¿Qué recibes?

During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 15 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __2.8kg box of organic Satsuma tangerines__ * Satsuma: round fruit, slightly bruised at the ends, slightly larger than a clementine, very thin yellow-green skin, orange flesh, without seeds, very juicy and similar in taste to clementines, but somewhat more acidic * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 1992 * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 20 and 40 fruits (the box contains between 55 and 100 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last up to 3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge)

¿Cuándo lo recibes?

We pick and ship the satsumas during October.
