¿Qué adoptas?

You adopt an orange tree from our farm in Cosenza (Italia). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union since 2017. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your orange tree. The Moro orange is a variety of citrus fruit that originates from southern Italy and is mainly cultivated in Sicily and Calabria. The tree is aesthetically very similar to the blond orange. The difference is the fruit, which is bright red inside and has a darker skin than the blond orange. These citrus fruits originate from Spain and the first variety discovered was the Sanguinello. From there they were introduced to Italy, where they found their ideal environment. The Moro variety comes from a natural mutation of the Sanguinello variety discovered in Sicily. Your adoption is 55 years old and its productive life is around 75 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your adoption dies, we will replace it with no additional cost assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. Your orange tree produces an average of 70kg of organic blood oranges each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with that amount. This way you will only pay for what you consume and will be able to sell any remaining harvest to others.

¿Qué recibes?

During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve at the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 2 boxes, which can be increased up to 14 boxes according to your needs. Shipping format: __5kg box of organic blood oranges__ * Moro: blood oranges par excellence, they have slightly wrinkled skin with red veins and red pulp * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2017 * Harvest on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * We do not store the fruit in cold chambers, they go directly from the tree to your doorstep * The box includes some extra fruits, in case some of them arrive damaged * Our trees are not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 4 and 5 fruits (the box contains between 20 and 25 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 2 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) You can eat oranges as fresh fruit or use them to make a salad, cake, jam or juice. As they are untreated, you can also use the peel in your recipes.

¿Cuándo lo recibes?

The oranges ripen from mid-January until the end of February and we will send them during this period.
