The project

Adopt an olive tree from the farm "Terradiva" in Minervino Murge (Italy) and receive your organic extra virgin olive oil at home. Vincenzo will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time in case the preparation has not started yet.

What do you adopt?

You adopt an olive tree from our farm in Minervino Murge (Italy). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 1998. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your olive tree. The older olive trees on our farm (between 70 and 80 years old) are mainly of a very typical variety of Puglia: the Coratina. We do not call them "old" because the olive tree is an extraordinary plant, which can live for centuries. Coratina olive trees are very resistant and adapt to a large variety of soils, and also to ours which are stony and calcareous. The origin of the name of this variety derives from a small town in the area called "Corato". Curiously, our grandfather was also called, in our local dialect, "il coratino" precisely because he moved from that city to our town as an olive tree pruner. We take care of our trees one by one, and we plant them in the traditional way, with about 7 meters of distance between them. We have been cultivating olive trees under the organic farming certification for more than twenty years. It was our father who made this decision in 1998 when organic farming was known to very few people. We follow the trees throughout the year, from pruning to their nourishment with substances permitted by organic farming, to the semi-mechanized olive harvest, to processing in the mill. Harvesting only takes place during the day, to safeguard the birds' rest on our plants during the night. Terradiva is our way of restoring a little beauty and dignity to the world of agriculture. The Terradiva brand was founded in 2015 by my sister Angela and I. Today, in Terradiva there is our whole family, it is a small business, so our products are handcrafted, they are packaged and labeled one by one by hand. As a younger generation, we are committed to combining family experience with our training and contemporary vision of a family-run organic farm, focused on sustainability and the care of our territory. Your adoption is 50 years old and its maximum lifespan is 200 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your adoption produces an average of 20kg of olives each season. With this amount we can produce around 1.5l of organic extra virgin olive oil. Since 2020, this oil has won our company numerous international awards in Italy, Germany, the United States and Japan. In Italy it won the Extragold medal at the Biol Novello and Biol Awards dedicated to organic oils, and it received the mark 85/100 at the prestigious Flos Olei contest. In Germany Der Feinschmecker magazine placed it among the best 100 extra virgin olive oils in the world, and it received the Gold medal at the New York World Olive Oil Competition and also at the Japan Olive Oil Prize. In 2022, Con Brio organic oil has become a Slow Food presidium and has been included in the Slow Food Guide dedicated to Italian extra virgin olive oils. The presidia are a project of the well-known Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity and have the aim of promoting an agriculture model based on respect for the territory, with its local biodiversity and culture.

What will you receive?

Each season we will send you a box with: 3 x __organic extra virgin olive oil__ (500ml bottle) We have dedicated the names of our oils to music and we have chosen them by imagining their flavours as symphonies that can have different tempo and personalities. In the box you will find three 500ml bottles of the "Con Brio" oil line. It is an oil produced from organic Coratina variety olives, the typical variety of our area, north of Bari, in Puglia. We called it "Con Brio" because it is an oil with an exuberant taste. It has an intense and complex flavour, it is rich in vegetal aromas, with a prevailing note of green tomato. On the palate, the spicy notes are marked, the bitterness is balanced. It is indeed an oil with personality. We recommend tasting Con Brio raw, to better preserve its organoleptic properties and the high content of polyphenols, and to better perceive and enjoy its aromas. Try Con Brio on a simple slice of artisanal bread, as bruschetta, but do not forget to discover its perfect pairing with legumes, vegetable soups, red meats and grilled meats. This oil comes from the very first harvest of the year, all olives coming from trees chosen one by one in a single plot of our farm’s lands. We select the olive trees in order to obtain olives with the same level of ripeness. The oil is pressed in the mill two hours after the olive harvest in order to preserve the taste and scent of the green olive, but also to minimize the oxidation process of the olives. For optimal conservation of the oil, keep the bottles away from sources of light and heat, in a cool and dry place.

When will you receive it?

You will receive our Con Brio organic extra virgin olive oil starting in September because we wanted to wait for the results of all the competitions before letting you taste it. The olive harvest for this type of oil tends to take place between the end of October and the first days of November, and the Con Brio olives are the first to be harvested on the farm.

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
