organic limes
Puntimoso
You are too late to adopt a lime tree from this Farmer. Check out the other projects.

The project

Adopt {publicVariety} from the farm "{farmName}" in {cityfarm} (Corsica / {countryFarm}) and receive your harvest in the form of {production} at home. The Farmer {farmerName} will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. As the production coming from one {variety} is big, the adoption is shared among various people. If you wish to have a bigger share, you may adopt more than once. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

What do you adopt?
A lime tree of the Tahiti variety cultivated based on the organic farming regulations of the Euripean Union. Our limes are usually harvested from September to October. However, this can vary depending on the year and climate. Our lime trees are on average 35 years old and have a height of 3 to 5 meters. Each {variety} produces an average of {masterUnitsMax}kg of {production} per season and is adopted by 4 CrowdFarmers who receive a box with 5kg of {production}.
What will you receive?
The box we will send you will contain: 5kg of Corsican organic Tahiti BIO limes packed in bulk in a cardboard box that you will receive directly at home. Our limes of the variety "Limes de Tahiti" grow on the heights of the Puntimoso terraces and have the following characteristics: * It is a seedless variety. * Tahiti limes are larger, more fragrant but a little less juicy than Mexican limes. * Quantity of fruits per kilo: 6 to 11 fruits The lime, sold under the name of "petit citron vert" is known for the composition of the famous cocktail "Mojito". It becomes yellow and soft as it matures. Its zest and juice add flavour to all kinds of salty or sweet dishes. The acidity of its juice "cooks" tartars, ceviches and fish carpaccio. The lime is a great success in exotic cuisine, sorbets, cocktails, and its peels in the preparation of candied fruit. Our limes can be stored for up to three weeks in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator. When left out in the open, they dry out more quickly.
When will you receive it?
Please, check the deadline for participating in this project (deadline for adoption) below. As of this date the Farmer will start preparing the orders that are to be shipped. You may select the delivery date of your box as suggested by the Farmer at check-out.
Why should you adopt?
* Learn who produces your food, how and where. Receive your food in a conscious manner. * Buy directly from the farmer. Help to generate wealth and better jobs in the rural areas. * Plan ahead and enable the Farmer to produce on demand. This way we can avoid overproduction and fight food waste. * Reward Farmers who make an effort to use environmentally-friendly packaging and cultivation techniques.

Patrick Berghman
I travelled between Congo (where I was born), Belgium (my origins) and Corsica where I attended school in Bastia. Harvesting, drilling and coffee cultivation in Congo marked my first experiences in the agricultural world. Back from Africa, when it was time for my father to retire, I took over the family business in 1983. Seven years later, I sought a solution to revitalize this farm in financial difficulty and was one of the very first to grasp the shift to organic farming in 1990. Organic farming seemed the obvious choice for me. Now, I am vice-president of the Inter Bio Corse association whose main role is to develop organic farming on the island l'île de Beauté. Today, I am a fervent and optimistic defender of the vision of agriculture of the future on a daily basis.

"From our island, proximity to consumers is not common and not very obvious. CrowdFarming is an excellent alternative to solve this problem! This innovative and transparent platform will finally allow those who wish to do so to consume our fruits in full awareness of their origin and in complete transparency. We are delighted to be able to share the fruit of our efforts and passion with you!“

Puntimoso
Puntimoso farm in San Nicolao, in the north-eastern part of Corsica, about 50 kilometres south of Bastia, represents 38 hectares of organic farming. Of these, 15 hectares are clementines, 12 kiwi, 2 lemons, 1 pomelo, 1 Lime and 7 diversified orchards (bitter and sweet orange, kumquats, avocado and hazelnut). Our orchards are ideally located on the eastern plain (east coast) to benefit from the best climate and offer excellent quality fruit. All our production is conducted in an environmentally friendly manner and certified according to the Organic Farming requirements. Our orchards benefit from a microclimate and an exceptional environment, between the sea and the mountains, giving the fruit a particular flavour. We have also chosen to apply for the PGI label for the clementines and pomelos to make them quality products. In addition, we aim to diversify our crops with plantations of oranges, cumbava, yuzu and to increase our production of lemons and limes. For more than 27 years, all our lands and orchards, as well as the entire environment of the farm, including the storage and packaging areas, have complied with all the controls imposed by the Organic Farming regulations. All certificates are renewed annually, in addition to all analyses and checks of control points such as samples for the absence of prohibited products. In addition, to guarantee the best quality, we are audited each year by accredited entities (Certipaq, Ecocert, Bureau Veritas Certification). We are strongly committed and proud of it!
