Adopt an orange tree from the "Oroverde" farm in Lentini (Italy) and receive your organic oranges at home. Chiara will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt an orange tree from our farm in Lentini (Italy). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2014. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your orange tree. We are a family business, passed down from grandparents to grandchildren who now run the business. Located in Sicily, our trees produce oranges from the Navel family, all from fully organic cultivation. Navel oranges are among the most distinctive and well-known varieties on the island, being native to Sicily. On our farm, we produce three varieties of Navel oranges, from the earliest (Washington Navel) to the latest (Navelina and Lanelate, which were introduced to extend the harvest period of the fruit). These oranges are characterised by their light flesh and seedlessness. The trees are very similar to each other and are therefore difficult to distinguish without fruit. The trees of all three varieties are between 2 and 3 metres tall, they have deep green foliage and do not shed their leaves during the winter. Washington Navel oranges were discovered around the 1800s in Brazil and from there travelled first to the United States and then to Europe in the late 20th century. From this one, all other varieties of the Navel group were born. Our Navel oranges are grown under a strict regime that respects organic farming standards. Our philosophy and desire to protect and maintain a healthy, clean, natural environment, without the use of synthetic pesticides or other synthetic plant protection products, goes hand in hand with this method of farming. The end product is a natural fruit that can be safely consumed. Your adoption is 31 years old and its maximum lifespan is 50 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your orange tree produces an average of 100kg of organic oranges each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __ 10kg box of organic oranges__ * Navel oranges have a slightly pronounced oval shape, which is very juicy, easy to peel, and a balanced flavour between sour and sweet * During the season you will find different varieties of Navel oranges in your box, depending on the harvest time and when you want to receive your box, the Navel orange varieties all have similar characteristics * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming Label since 2014 * Harvested on request, delivered without wax or preservative treatment in a plastic-free cardboard box * We do not keep the fruit in cold storage, it goes straight from the tree to your doorstep * Our trees are not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * 1 kg contains between 5 and 8 pieces * If you store them in a cool, ventilated place, they can last up to 3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the refrigerator) * Inside the box you will find oranges of various sizes.
