The project

Adopt a potato field from "Merveilleuses Noix" in Notre Dame de l’Osier (France) and receive your harvest in the form of organic potatoes at home. The Farmer Sylvain will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

What do you adopt?

Adopt a potato field that we cultivate under the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union since 2018. We offer you the adoption of 4m² of our field of organic potatoes, where we grow a mixed variety of Mona Lisa and Blanche. We will take care of the maintenance of the field, sow the seedlings of potatoes in springtime, grow them in best conditions, harvest them manually and send the product to you. We guarantee you quality potatoes, unwashed, and free of anti-germination agents. We have been growing potatoes since 2011. These will be cultivated in organic orchards of young walnut trees, while waiting for them to bear fruits in a few years. Among the hardy varieties of Dutch origin, the Blanche variety has been around since 2011 and is a cross between Dali and Eden. The Mona Lisa variety has been listed in the official French catalog since 1982. They are increasingly cultivated in France, and have developed for several years, especially regarding organic farming and short-circuit networks. It must be said that these varieties have many qualities. They very much meet consumers expectations and suit modern cultivation practices. These potatoes have particularly good genetics with the result of more productivity and resistance to diseases. The potatoes you will receive, will be of various sizes, rather medium to large. They can be of various shapes because they grow on stony soil. This soil is light and filtering, which allows high production and almost no residual dirt on the vegetables, once we ship them. Each potato field yields an average of 10kg of organic potatoes per season.

What will you receive?

Each season we will send you: __Box of 10kg of organic potatoes __ The potatoes are of the 2 varieties Mona Lisa and Blanche. Their particularity is that they are very soft with a sweet note. They are an all-round ingredient in the kitchen and may be used in every recipe (gratins, soups, steamed dishes, boiled, fried, baked, mashed, etc.). They are delicious as sautéed potatoes, but also cooked in the oven or steamed. For example, you may bake them in the oven, with a drizzle of olive oil, some garlic and fresh rosemary and serve them with a good roast. Their tender yellowish flesh with a yellow and soft skin makes them a versatile potato, for whatever dish you desire. It's a polyvalent variety that won't disappoint you! They are raw, to be washed and peeled according to taste before use. Our potatoes do not undergo anti-germination treatment. They can therefore, under favourable conditions, begin to sprout. It is in their nature. To prevent your potatoes from germinating, we advise you to keep them in the open box, or in wooden crates, in a dark, cool (6 to 10°C) and dry place. You can also place an apple in the box, which will diffuse ethylene, a natural anti-germinative.

When will you receive it?

Harvested in August, they will be shipped in September

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
