Adopt a walnut tree from the farm "Merveilleuses Noix" in Notre Dame de l’Osier (France) and receive your harvest in the form of walnuts at home. Sylvain will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. As the production coming from one walnut tree is big, the adoption is shared among various people. If you wish to have a bigger share, you may adopt more than once. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.
The Franquette walnut trees that we propose for adoption were planted some in 1989 and the younger ones in 2001. The Franquette walnut is a very productive walnut tree producing elongated nuts of good size and very good flavour: sweet, delicately sugary, with pronounced "hazelnut type" aromas. The walnut tree is one of the fruit species with a rather slow fruiting process. However, for a walnut tree, the Franquette variety is considered to be a relatively fast fruiting variety. This old variety originates from the right bank of the lower Isère valley, in the Vinay region, exactly where our farm is located. We are therefore proud representatives of this variety. We started our conversion to organic farming at the end of 2018 to respect as much as possible the nature around us and to offer authentic quality walnuts. We will therefore be certified in Organic Agriculture at the beginning of 2022. Each walnut tree produces an average of 6kg of walnuts per season.
The box we will send you contains: 6 kg of __unpeeled walnuts__ size 27-28 mm Franquette variety from the Grenoble Walnuts PDO area in conversion to organic The nuts will be packed in bulk in a cardboard box that you will receive directly at home, accompanied by a little bit of straw to reduce friction during transport. Our nuts can be stored for up to a year in a not too hot place in your home. Once cracked, it is advisable to store the kernels in the refrigerator or even in the freezer to preserve them properly. In this way, the kernels are edible for one year.
