The project

Adopt an apple tree from the "Maison Tamisier" farm in L’Isle Sur La Sorgue (France) and receive your organic cooking apples at home. Laurent will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

What do you adopt?

You adopt an apple tree from our farm in L’Isle Sur La Sorgue (France). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2015. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your apple tree. The cooking apple, as its name indicates – and in opposition to the table apple intended to be eaten raw – is eaten mainly in cooked form. The Grey Canadian Reinette is a domestic apple variety originating in England, where it appeared around 1800 under the name Golden Russet. It is an old apple variety with strong vigour and which grows in a spread-out, even drooping form. Flowering takes place in mid-April, giving beautiful little white ornamental flowers. It is an apple variety characterised by its high fertility and hardiness. It is harvested in mid-September and preserves very well. Our Grey Canadian Reinette orchards are ideally located in the South East of France. The oldest ones were planted in 1950. Some are still standing. They yield less fruit, but make up for this with a delicious taste! Our crop managers keep a constant watch over technical issues and the study of the orchard ecosystem in order to promote biodiversity. Various environmentally friendly production techniques are used. Irrigation control probes make it possible to evaluate the soil's water availability and thus to optimise our water supply. We irrigate in accordance with the weather, which means that we can work with peace of mind! Your adoption is 7 years old and its maximum lifespan is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your apple tree produces an average of 9kg of organic cooking apples each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.

What will you receive?

During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format:__ 4.5kg box of organic cooking apples__ * Grey Canadian Reinette: Brown to bronze-green skin with a reddish tinge; crisp and tangy when tasted, its flavour is refined and its complex aromas evoke earthiness * Baked in the oven, in compote, or in savoury-sweet dishes, it reveals its best qualities in dishes like tarte tatin with salted butter caramel * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2016 * Harvested on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * One kilo contains between 8 and 9 fruits (the box contains between 38 and 42 fruits depending on the size) * It is a climacteric fruit which is harvested when it reaches physiological maturity; after being picked from the tree it then continues to ripen until it has reached its optimum point for consumption * How to store: due to the high temperatures during the development of the fruit, the apples can quickly become mealy; we recommend that you place them in the refrigerator upon receipt in order to preserve their crunchiness

When will you receive it?

Our Grey Canadian Reinette apples are harvested from mid-September to mid-March and can even be left to mature until the end of April. Shipments are made during harvest periods.

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
