Laurent will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you received your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.
You adopt an apple tree from our farm in L’Isle Sur La Sorgue (France). Cultivation certified organic by the European Union since 2009 and certified Demeter since 2020. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your apple tree. For the record, the Granny Smith apple was discovered in Australia in 1868 by an old lady called Maria Ann Smith, hence its name. This variety is best grown in a mild climate, since it needs warmth to reach maturity. It is an excellent pollinator, one of the best. However, the tree does not pollinate itself and must be planted near compatible varieties in order to achieve pollination. These varieties include Golden Delicious, Gala, Reine des Reinettes and Fuji, which are featured in our orchards, and Melrose, Idared, Jonathan and Cox's Orange for the others. Our Granny Smith orchards are ideally located in the south-east of France. This enables us to carry out the earliest harvest in Europe, at the beginning of August, for the first apples. Did you know? It is one of the most famous apples in France. Our crop managers constantly monitor the technical aspects and study the orchards' ecosystem so as to promote biodiversity. Various environmentally friendly production techniques are used. Irrigation control probes enable us to assess the availability of water in the soil, and we optimise our water supply accordingly. The weather forecasts tell us when to irrigate, and so we work with complete peace of mind! Your adoption is 22 years old and its productive life is around 30 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your adoption dies, we will replace it with no additional cost assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. Your adoption produces an average of 18kg of Demeter organic green apples each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with that amount. This way you will only pay for what you consume and will be able to sell any remaining harvest to others
During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 2 boxes, which can be increased up to 4 boxes according to your needs.
