You adopt vines from our farm in Hitzendorf (Austria). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union since 2003. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your vines. A few years ago we decided to plant next to our apple and quince trees, the grape variety Muscaris which is a cross between the varieties Muscat and Solaris. Muscaris is a fungus-resistant grape variety that was bred in 1987 in Freiburg (Switzerland). This variety is characterised by a very high resistance to fungal diseases, which are otherwise very common in viticulture and have to be strongly fought. Thus, we can greatly reduce the necessary plant protection. The Muscaris grape wonderfully complements the crop diversity on our biodynamic farm in the Styrian hill country around the city of Graz - which is a region that has been strongly influenced by viticulture during the last centuries. The “Muscaris” is quality wine from Austria, from controlled organic cultivation produced in Styria. The culture is trellised (in rows of vines) and is not irrigated, forcing the roots to reach deep down. Our wine thrives on varied heavy and light, stony soils with distinctive proportions of sand and clay. Just before ripening, the mild climate with strong day-night temperature variations contributes to the aroma. To harvest maximum quality, we rely on a lower yield of maximum 5t/ha. The manual harvest of our grapes usually takes place at the end of September, depending on the weather and the year. In addition, the grape harvest is also done in several passes, depending on the location, which allows us to optimize the ripeness and aroma. The next step is the vinification, an exciting process during which the emerging wine is monitored and tasted again and again. The wine is fermented in controlled stainless steel tanks and finally aged until bottling. This is the best way to retain the fine fruitful aromas of the grape. Your adoption is 6 years old and its productive life is around 100 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your adoption dies, we will replace it with no additional cost assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. Your vines produce an average of 7kg of organic Muscaris grapes each season. With this amount we can produce around 4.5l of organic white wine Muscaris from Styria.
We will send you the box you have chosen in the adoption process. Small box: 3 x __Organic white wine Muscaris 2021__, Styria (0.75l bottle) Big box: 6 x __Organic white wine Muscaris 2021__, Styria (0.75l bottle) When tasted, our wine shows distinct notes of lime, dried lemongrass, mace and a fruity body. It is recommended as a sommer wine that will accompany you on balmy evenings or conjure up the feeling of sun on your tongue in winter. You can enjoy it very well as an aperitif or pair it with fish and summer salads. The wine bottles are provided with a screw cap. The wine needs a cool storage. We recommend to drink this wine within a year for optimal taste. We rely on a production close to nature, a manual harvest of the grapes and a single-varietal fermentation. To obtain the technical data and the detailed results of the official tasting done by professional wine tasters in collaboration with CrowdFarming of this wine you can download the technical data sheet that you can find in the "Additional analyses" section. Given that the wines are analysed as they are bottled, bear in mind that the technical data sheet may correspond to the vintage of the previous year and not to the wine you will receive.
When will you receive it?
In the spring (around April) we bottle the wine with a mobile bottling and after this we can send the wine to you.
