Adopt a pomegranate tree from the "Finca Jelanisol-Montebelo" farm in Gibraleón (Spain) and receive your organic pomegranates at home. Friedrich will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a pomegranate tree from our farm in Gibraleón (Spain). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 1990. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your pomegranate tree. The Pomegranates from our finca, Jelanisol-Montebello, are part of a personal project. As a result, for more than twenty-five years I've been studying the relationships between people, the land, and the fairest way of distributing its fruits. Thanks to this, I've achieved an ecosystem in which our Pomegranates interact with nature, in balance with the different layers that create it. The pomegranate is a tree with a long tradition in the Mediterranean. This is thanks to its adaptability to different types of soils, its drought resistance and its tolerance to low temperatures, so much so that it grows naturally in different habitats. It originally comes from Asia and is considered one of the most cultivated fruit trees in history. We grow different varieties, but this time we're sending you the most popular of all: the Wonderful. Cultivation doesn't differ between varieties, it is a deciduous tree with a domesticated size when cultivated for farming, although it can reach up to six metres in height. It has spiny branches and large, bell-shaped flowers that are a stunning red colour when in bloom. The fruit is also a bright red colour with a leathery rind, which has been crucial to its cultivation since ancient times as it preserves the fruit for a long time. We plant pomegranates next to citrus trees, because they're very well adapted to the climate in the southwest of Spain, thanks to the many hours of sunshine per year and the thermal contrasts in the region. This makes it easier to grow them, as the trees set the optimal relationships for their development. Rest assured that your Pomegranate is part of a habitat in which each element has a function that benefits the other. This balance means that our farm is like a living being, which regulates itself and therefore protects itself from harmful external agents. And this is all thanks to our hard work running the farm in line with biodynamic agriculture and permaculture criteria. Your adoption is 11 years old and its maximum lifespan is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your pomegranate tree produces an average of 25kg of organic pomegranates each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __2,5kg box of organic pomegranates__ * Wonderful (October-November): more of a sour flavour compared to other varieties; medium-large and round; very deep red colour, both inside and outside; small and semi-hard arils (seeds) * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 1990 * Harvested on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 2 and 6 fruits * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last up to 3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge)
