Adopt an orange tree from the farm "Finca El Conde" in Casares (Spain) and receive your harvest in the form of organic oranges at home. The Farmer Antonio will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.
Adopt an orange tree that we cultivate under the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union since 2014. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your orange tree. The Valencia Late variety of orange trees is vigorous and thornless, and potentially originated in Portugal. Its yield tends to alternate, so you do not gain the same produce every year. Our organic orange trees are grown in a privileged area, where the valleys of two of the most important rivers in southern Spain, the Guadiaro and the Genal, converge. This ensures the perfect conditions for their cultivation: soils rich in nutrients, with drainage capacity, but with sufficient levels of silt, clay and organic matter for their development; and enough water throughout the year so that they do not suffer stress. On the other hand, its proximity to the coast and the Sierra Bermeja mountain range, gives rise to a unique thermal contrast for the cultivation of citrus trees. Our orange trees are grown according to organic farming practices, so we are careful not to use chemicals or post-harvest treatments that alter the natural properties of our trees and fruit. In doing so we are able to respect the natural environment, particularly the riverbeds which surround the farm, safeguarding riverside vegetation and not altering the properties of the water with chemical substances. The productive life of an orange tree is around 35 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your orange tree dies, we will replace it with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. A orange tree from our farm produces an average of 60kg each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with the amount you reserve. This way you will only pay for what you consume and we can plan and sell the remaining harvest amount to others.
During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 2 boxes, which can be increased up to 6 boxes according to your needs. Shipping format: __10 kg box of organic oranges__ * Valencia Late: medium sized, with very few seeds, very sweet and slightly sour, very juicy, it is the last variety to fruit; they are oranges which are especially recommended for use in juices, but are also very tasty to eat * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2014 * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * The box includes some extra fruits, in case some of them arrive damaged * One kilo contains between 4 and 6 fruits (the box contains between 40 and 60 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 2-3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge)
When will you receive it?
We begin harvesting in June and dedicate ourselves to our task until the end of July, although, depending on the weather, this can last until August. You can order your boxes in advance and we will ensure the fruits are picked to arrive directly from the tree to your table.
