Adopt a mango tree from the "Finca Aguasvivas" farm in Artana (Spain) and receive your mangos at home. Héctor will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt a mango tree from our farm in Artana (Spain) that we cultivate following the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union. We are already in the process of converting and expect to be officially certified by 2024. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your mango tree. Our mango trees are of the Osteen variety. The mango is a fruit from Asia that has adapted very well to being cultivated in our region. The Osteen variety is native to Florida, but its production area is today limited to the Mediterranean. In its natural habitat, the mango tree can reach forty-five meters in height with a canopy diameter of thirty metres. Although it's a tropical plant, it has adapted very well to the Mediterranean climate, forming large trees with abundant harvests. When the mango tree is no longer productive, its wood can be used to make instruments such as ukuleles or items of furniture. As new-generation farmers, we're more aware of climate change and environmental protection, so in 2020 we decided to change our farming methods to organic. We're now immersed in an exciting process of converting our family-run farm, where we continue to work consciously to improve every single day and become increasingly sustainable, to become officially certified as organic. Your adoption is 5 years old and its maximum lifespan is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your mango tree produces an average of 20kg of mangos each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 0 boxes. Once you have paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __2,5kg box of mangos__ * Osteen (September - October): ovoid-elongated shape, medium-large size, skin with a very characteristic purple hue and orange, yellow or greenish tones, has a low amount of fiber, pulp with a sweet and slightly sour flavour * Farming in conversion to Organic Farming since 2020 * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 2 and 3 fruits * It is a climacteric fruit which is harvested when it reaches physiological maturity; after being picked from the tree it then continues to ripen until it has reached its optimum point for consumption * Important note: the fruits usually arrive hard; to ripen them, keep them at room temperature until they are ready to eat; if you receive some fruit that is already ripe, you can either eat it right away or keep it in the fridge A tropical flavour bursting with aroma and colour. Delicious at any time, these mangoes are renowned for their intense sweetness, with a sour touch. Very easy to eat, even with a spoon, their pulp doesn't have any fibres. You can store the mangos perfectly well at room temperature, always taking care not to bruise them. Mangos aren't fans of the cold, so if you put them in the fridge, the ideal temperature is between 9ºC and 10ºC. Lower temperatures can darken their pulp.
When will you receive it?
The harvest season for the Osteen mango is usually from early October to late November.
