Adopt a tangerine tree from the farm "Doña Ana" in Lorca (Spain) and receive your harvest in the form of organic tangerines at home. The Farmer María Luisa will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.
You adopt a tangerine tree from our farm in Lorca (Spain). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2022. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your tangerine tree. Our tangerine trees were planted in 2001 and have been grown organically since 2019. The mandarins should be with us for at least 30 years, so they are currently at their most productive. A tangerine tree of this variety and age (approximately 20 years old) and grown organically produces an average of 50–60 kg of fruit per year. The trees to be adopted are of the clemenvilla variety, also called nova, which is considered a late variety. It adapts very well to our area, and the tangerines are of high organoleptic quality with good flavour, good juice content. They are seedless, although due to cross-pollination some fruit may contain seed. The trees are a little taller than a person, with lustrous green vegetation and a large round crown since they are adult trees. The best time to enjoy a tangerine is between the months of December and March. In the months of February and March, on the same tree it's possible to see ripe fruit and flowers preparing for the next harvest. When the trees are flowering it's a real treat to walk around the farm while the sea breeze causes the orange blossom to fill the air with that characteristic sweet smell. A tangerine tree can produce mandarins of various sizes. The largest and the smallest, along with the ones that are not suitable for shipping, are sent off for juice production. The productive life of a tangerine tree is around 30 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your tangerine tree dies, we will replace it with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. A tangerine tree from our farm produces an average of 66 kg each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with the amount you reserve. This way you will only pay for what you consume and we can plan and sell the remaining harvest amount to others.
During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 2 boxes, which can be increased up to 5 boxes according to your needs. Shipping format: __11kg box of organic tangerines__ * Clemenvilla (late December – early February): great juice content and excellent flavour, fruit of medium/large size and a very attractive reddish-orange colour, characteristic sour note in balance with the sweetness of the tangerine, a little more difficult to peel than clementines * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2022 * Picked the day before shipment at their optimal point of ripeness and shipped in a cardboard box without plastics * One kilo contains between 6 and 9 fruits (the box contains between 66 and 99 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 2 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) It is not advisable to store them in closed containers, neither inside nor outside the refrigerator, due to the reduction of the conservation time with the proliferation of mold. Refrigerated they last longer and also preserve their optimum point of maturity.
When will you receive it?
The Farmer will collect your harvest on demand and just before shipment so you will receive it fresh, not treated with wax or other preservatives. It may be received from late November to early February, when it will be at its optimum level of maturity.
